This battery is easiest to find if you walk on the beach, because one of its four positions is right there, rinsed by the waves of the sea. Other positions, including a telescope tower, are in the pine forest not far from the coast. The battery was installed in the 1940s, and you can see the Northern Forts from here.

Where the little Rumbiņa river flows into the Daugava (on the left bank of the little river opposite the Lielvārde park), there is the Dievkalns castle hill that has been reduced by the waters of the Daugava. It is also known as the Cepure hill. According to antiquities that have been found here, representatives of Baltic tribes lived here from the first millennium BC to the 6th or 7th century AD. The level of the Ķegums hydroelectric power plant can be reached by a staircase from which the best view of this object can be found.

This is a collection of cinema and photography items collected by the owner of the Ziķu homestead in the Zirņi Parish, which is in the Saldus Administrative District. The collection includes antique film cameras and objects that demonstrate the process of taking pictures and films. The exhibition is in a log building that the owner built – one that resembles bee cells. Please contact the owner in advance for a tour. |

Tagad redzamā vienstāva kungu māja ir vairākreiz pārbūvēta laikā no 17. – 19. gs. 1997. g. ēku vēlreiz atjaunoja un tagad tajā atrodas viesu nams un Vilsandi nacionālā parka apmeklētāju centrs, kur var iegūt ne tikai vērtīgu informāciju, bet arī apskatīt Vilsandi apkārtnē atrastās fosilijas. No Lonas muižas var uzsākt pārgājienu uz Vilsandi salu. Vienā no muižas ēkām ir izveidota Vilsandi nacionālajam parkam veltīta ekspozīcija. |

Dabas taka atrodas Zaķumuižā un ved cauri vecajam muižas parkam, pa ceļam iespējams aplūkot simtgadīgus kokus, dažādus augus, kā arī dažādus kukaiņus, putnus. Taka ir veidota kā mācību taka un to veidojusi Zaķumuižas pamatskolas skolotāja. Taka ir 1,5 km gara. Tai ir vidējas grūtības pakāpe: takas reljefs ir samērā vienmērīgs, mērens, izņemot atsevišķus posmus (daži stāvumi un kritumi, dažviet nelīdzens reljefs), tāpēc īpaša fiziska sagatavotība pirms takas iziešanas nav nepieciešama. Vietās, kur reljefs ir stāvāks, izvietoti roku balsti, bet pāri muižas dīķu sistēmas ūdeņiem uzcelti divi tiltiņi.

The hill is the highest point on the shores of the little Slocene River valley, and it is located in Tukums, at the side of Jelgavas Street. It opens up a broad view of the Slocene River valley and the town of Tukums with its historical centre on the opposite side of the valley. The view is particularly interesting in the evening, when the town is lit up. There is a monument to the liberators of Tukums.

Pēteris Barisons (1904-1947) was a Latvian composer and conductor, and this is his birthplace – the Skudras homestead. Three little lakes can be found on the left bank of the Pirita River with many erupting “eyes” of streams, each with its own colour (bluish-green, white, dark). This puts together various colour combinations. These are often known as the most beautiful streams in Estonia. Some pump out as much as 20-30 litres of water per hour. It is said that the waters are good medical resources, particularly for the eyes. There are improvements in the area of tourists.

This route leads through the Curves of Daugava nature park, which is an area that was once to be flooded for the construction of the Daugavpils hydroelectric power plant. The central artery in the park is the ancient Daugava River valley, and the specific here is eight grand curves with a length of 4-6 km. The highest banks of the river are at the so-called Daugava gate, with the mighty Ververi and Slutiški cliffs. More than ½ of the territory is forested for hiking, nature watching, berry picking and mushroom hunting. The Daugava River valley has one of the greatest diversities of flora -- >800 different kinds in all. This is also a multinational environment with Lettigalian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian and Belarusian traditions and heritage. This is an entirely forested island in the Bay of Finland, ~14 km from Tallinn. A network of small pathways covers the entire island. Recommended hike along the seashore of the island, which will offer dunes, as well as a coastline that is sandy in some parts, rocky in others, and covered with reeds in still others (~9 km). A ferry boat will take you to the island from the Pirita port.

This is a natural monument of protected dendrological plants. The park is in the Upmala Parish, covers 2.7 ha, has been protected since 2001 and is managed by the Vārkava Administrative District Council. Judging from the oldest oak trees (approximately 200 years old), the park was established in the early 19th century, with other plants from the latter part of the century. Local species of trees, including maples, elms, fir trees, aspens, oak trees, willow trees, linden trees and hazelnut trees grow in the park, as do more than 10 exotic types of trees and bushes, including various types of maple, aspen, willow, lilac and linden trees. |
