The Jaunmoku palace is just 75 km from Rīga in a quiet and hilly Kurzeme landscape. The palace was built in 1901 after a design by Wilhelm Bockslaff, and it was the hunting castle of Rīga Mayor George Armitstead at first. The greatest and most tempting treasure in the castle are the pot-bellied stoves, the most valuable and ornate one having been manufactured in honour of the 700th anniversary of the city of Rīga.
