This is the birthplace of the poet Jonas Mačulis-Maironis (1862-1932), and it is an historical and environmentally protected area with the villages of Pagojuki, Pasandravjo and Bernoti. It is a branch of the Raseini District Museum of History, and the environmentally protected area is part of the Dubisos Regional Park. |

Салаца с точки зрения водного туризма является интересной рекой, на которой даже в период маловодья будут радовать береговые ландшафты и объекты осмотра, а также многообразие самой реки. Для похода на лодках самыми привлекетельными будут окрестности Мазсалацы и участок Мерниеки – Вецсалаца, где на карте видны топонимы, связанные с заколами. Заколы (лат. tacis) – бывшие места ловли миноги – это та уникальность, характерная только для Салацы на участке реки ниже впадения реки Иге. В наши дни о прежнем существовании заколов свидетельствуют топонимы – Гедерту тацис, Жвигулю тацис и др. Заколы для миног строили в местах, где река самая мелкая, самая узкая, более богата островами и стремнинами, поэтому топоним «тацис» означает также самые интересные обстоятельства для сплава. Сами заколы сохранились только в нижнем течении реки у Салацгривы. Ночлег в основном на стоянках для водных туристов (в палатках). It lies between Pīlādžu street and the left bank of the river Siliņupe. In the 3rd to 2nd millenium B.C., there was a fishermen and hunters' settlement in the place of which there is installed an informational commemorational stone (Sculptor O.Skarainis). The settlement near the river Siliņupe is the oldest known human settlement in the area of the Ķemeri National Park. There are found many artifacts: pottery fragments and arrow tips, flint and amber pieces, etc..It is possible that the adjacent residential area has been the place of a cemetery. A small portion of the finds is displayed at the Lapmežciems Museum, the other ones are located in the National History Museum of Latvia. |

The company is in a building that was built in 1911 and produces milk, kefir, buttermilk, cream, cottage cheese, sweet cottage cheese crèmes, butter, yogurt and cheese. A store alongside the co-operative offers Straupe Dairy Co-operative products, as well as cheeses manufactured by its partners – Smiltenes Dairy and SIA Latvijas Piens. This is one of five companies in Latvia that is allowed to manufacture one of the EU’s guaranteed traditional characteristics product, “Summer Solstice” cheese. The products have been awarded the “Green Teaspoon” and “Latvian Goodies” status. Group tours are offered a chance to taste the products and learn about the co-operative’s operations. |

The 60 km cross-border cycling trail along the Koiva/Gauja River in Estonia and Latvia was completed in 2010. The trail begins at Tellingumäe car park, start and finish points of the trail and the border crossing site are supplied with resting areas and information boards with maps. Signposts are located at crossroads where there may be confusion for cyclists; attractions near the main route are also signposted. Information boards are provided in Estonian, Latvian and English. Tellingumäe car park is also a starting point for an 18-km cycling route. |

„Zaļmuiža” (Green Manor) is notable because of its legendary past. The protector of peasants and poet Peter
Miglinīks (1850 – 1883) worked there as a clerk in the beginning of the 19th century. In 1784, the building belonged
to Frederick von Korf. The manor was bought by officer of Russian army Nikolaj Paulin von Rosenschild. Once
the manor had a large farm (800 ha): several cattle-sheds, fruit and wine cellars, alcohol brewery. Now there in
only a manor house and a barn. Till 1960s, the manor house was the centre of kolkhoz „Liesma”, later the club.
Now there is a smithy of a craftsman Jānis Ļubka. Guests are welcome to watch and try the metal processing.

Saimnieki Aivars, Ārija un Līga Urbasti šobrīd audzē 1,6 ha vasaras un rudens avenes, arī nelielās platībās zemenes uz lauka un segtās platībās, siltumnīcā. Zemenes no "Mežnorām" parasti pieejamas laikā no maija vidus līdz oktobra vidum. "Mežnorās " audzē vasaras avenes "Norna", rudens avenes "Babje ļeto", “Polana”, populāro zemeņu šķirni “Polka”. No savā dārzā audzētajām ogām (upenes, jāņogas, ķirši, zemenes u.c.) Aivars gatavo mājas vīnu: "Mežnoru vīns pilnībā sākās Mežnorās. Tas piedzimst nevis mucās, bet sākas mūsu zemeņu vai aveņu laukā, un tās ir daudz dziļākas saknes, kas atstāj pēdas arī garšā”. Saimniecībā audzētais pieejams uz vietas Raunā, gan arī Straupes Lauku labumu tirdziņā, Straupes Hanzas tirgū, arī sezonā - Cēsu tirgū. |
