Atrodas t.s. Baznīcu kalnā – 18. novembra ielā 66. Apjoma ziņā – lielākais Daugavpils luterāņu dievnams, kuru cēla laikā no 1891. - 1893. g. neogotiskā stilā no sarkanajiem ķieģeļiem (arhitekts Vilhelms Neimanis). 1941. g. baznīcā izcēlās ugunsgrēks un gāja bojā lielākā daļa no tās sākotnējās iekārtas. Turpmāko divu gadu laikā baznīcu daļēji atjaunoja, taču vēlāk tajā izveidoja noliktavu u.c. baznīcai „nepiederīgas” iestādes. 1985. g. ēka vēlreiz cieta ugunsgrēkā. Pagājušā gadsimta deviņdesmito gadu sākumā uzsāka baznīcas atjaunošanas darbus, uzstādīja solus un altāri, kas ir Ogres Amatniecības vidusskolas audzēkņu darinājums. |

Forts were built and rebuilt at this location for many centuries by Germans, Swedes and Russians. In 1912, several forts were erected at Mangaļsala and Bolderāja. There were two forts with 254-mm cannons, six with 152-mm cannons, and three with 138-mm cannons. Each fort had two cannons.

Go for self-drive excursions in vicinity featuring scenic sea coast, traditional fishing villages where smoked fish can be bought from fishermen, Slitere National Park with beautiful view from its lighthouse, charming Kuldiga with its wooden architecture and waterfall. On the way back to Riga, adults might enjoy stop at the home winery to taste excellent wines made from everything else but grapes. The cave, which is 45 m deep and up to 5.5 m wide is found on the right bank of the Strīķupe river, by the Cēsis-Lenči road. The cave and its nearby sandstone cliff have suffered much damage from local visitors, which is why the administrators of the national park limited access to the surrounding territory a few years ago. You can no longer approach the cave. This is a positive example of who an important geological monument and a protected biotope can be protected. |

The tour also involves sites of historical and cultural interest. The tour gives a look beyond the usual tourism sites to get to know the three Baltic states more deeply. It starts in the historic Latvian capital, Riga, followed by the Gauja National Park with its castles, manors and walking trails. Climb the tower of medieval Turaida Castle for amazing views over the valley and visit the ancient jewellery master in the castle of the charming town of Cesis. Across the border in Estonia, walk streets with elegant villas at Parnu sea resort before catching a ferry to Saaremma island. Ethnographic Koguva village, ancient churches and windmills are typical of the island, as is an embroidering tradition. Then it's off to Tallinn with its medieval Old Town and to the rocky landscapes of Lahemaa National Park with fishing villages and manors. Try Estonian national dishes at the pub in Altja. Driving back, stop at the university town of Tartu. In Latvia again, visit goat farms and a traditional black bread bakery. Then the tour heads towards the west coast with the cities of Liepaja and, across the border in Lithunaia, Klaipeda. Next is the incredible Curonian Spit. Before Vilnius, take a detour to Grutas Park with its bizarre Soviet statuary. Finish the journey at picturesque Trakai Castle in Lithuania and Rundale Palace in Latvia. |

Ilze Kupča bakes cakes in Mārupe, preserving her grandmother’s traditions. She has received several awards in various competitions in Latvia. She makes cakes and zephirs from natural products, which are either purchased from Latvian farmers or home producers, grown by herself, or even picked in the forests. Individual orders are accepted. Rye delicacies: blackcurrant and apple zephirs with rye breadcrumbs, lingonberry and caramel cake with rye bread. |

The church was built between 1932 and 1938 to replace an old Neo-Gothic wooden church. It was designed by J. Cīrulis. Until 1994, the building housed a venue that rented out films. Today it houses an exhibition, “From Foundations to the Steeple: Photographs of Ancient Lettigalian Construction Jobs.” This documents the construction of the church. The 37 metre steeple offers a good look at Rēzekne. |
