The first Catholic church in Ludza was built in 1687 and burned down. A new wooden Baroque church was built in 1738, and because of its colourful interior it became known as the loveliest wooden house of worship in Latvia. The church burned down during a great conflagration in 1938. Work on the church that is there began in 1939, but it was only completed in the early 1990s. |

Dundaga baron once was one of the largest landowners of Courland, therefore during the second half of 19th century around the estate formed centre of economic and social life. Dundaga Central Square is dominated by its water tower, behind which starts Dakterleja, where from 1844 to 1854 worked one of the first ethnic Latvian doctors and linguist, J. Bars. Until the sixties of the 20th century from the Dundaga through Mazirbe and fishermen villages to Ventspils ran a Narrow gauge train. Today Dundaga attracts tourists with its spectacular castle, the Lutheran church, crocodile sculpture, Eizenberga pottery workshops and other objects. |

A memorial room to Pauls Stradiņš is found at Raiņa Street 14 in Viesīte. A memorial plaque on the green wooden house tells us that the distinguished Latvian surgeon, academician and professor Pauls Stradiņš (1896-1958) lived there from 1902 until 1914. The exhibits relate to Stradiņš and his family. Right now the room is closed to visitors, and it is planned that during the tourism season of 2013, its contents will be displayed at the former Viesīte school at Peldu Street 2.

This old brickmaking kiln is used to prepare clay that is used by many ceramics artists. The owners also produce handmade household and design objects. Tours are available with attractive stories and creative workshops. Individual orders are also accepted. |

This wooden pathway will introduce the visitor to a high-type swamp and a unique habitat – a place where sulphur streams flow into the Raganu swamp. The little lakes in the swamp are unique – they are the result of sulphur bacteria, and there is a special range of species in those lakes. The landscape is interesting, and the smell of sulphur pervades, mostly from sulphur ponds. The trail is 800m long and will require 20 minutes to an hour to traverse. The object is on the border of the Zemgale and Vidzeme regions.

From Riga airport the tour goes straight into countryside to Jaunmoku manor, surrounded by an attractive park. Next day, birding starts at Ķemeri National Park, including wet-forest areas and locations around Lake Kaņieris and Ķemeri village. Then the route follows the west coastof the Gulf of Riga with some small stops along the way and longer walks at Mērsrags. Next you spend some time at Cape Kolka and its surroundings which is a prime migration spot. Visitthebroad-leafforests of Slītere National Park around the ancient coast of the Baltic Ice Lake and drive through Užava floodplain fields, then stop at the westernmost point in the country, Akmeņrags. The tour continues to Liepaja and Pape Ornithological Station and lake where it is possible to spend a night watching the owl migration if it has started. Then we drive through Zvārte wooded area and make some stops at fish ponds on the way back to Riga. |

The environmental object “SUITI MEETING PLACE” was established during an international arts plénière in Jūrkalne, and the originator of the idea was the musician Igo. Sculptor Ivars Miķelsons with assistants Didzis Grodzs and Juris Krafts produced the environmental object. The idea of marking out the Suiti cultural space among Gudenieki, Alsunga and Jūrkalne in nature began in 2013, when the first Suiti meeting place was established where the Gudenieki-Ēdole and Alsunga-Basi roads cross. The second meeting place was established the next year where the Kuldīga-Alsunga-Jūrkalne road crosses the town in the direction of Jūrkalne past the Alsunga centre. The third Suiti meeting place was established in Jūrkalne. The objects were established in partnership with local governments and landowners by the “Vēju sēta” association. |

Savukārt, Juzefovas vārds cēlies no vietējā muižnieka Juzefa (Jezupa) Šadurska. |

Kulnevskaya (Ilzeskalns) Orthodox Church was built in 1832 by Kulnevs, the landlord of Ilzenberg
(Ilzeskalns) manor house. He was also the brother of Jacob Kulnevs. The Church has an iconostasis with
icons of the 19th century. The rectangular building has semicircular niches at its sides. The members of Kulnevs
family are buried here. The place of tomb is a rare phenomenon in Orthodox churches of Latvia.

The “Strand” Complex – it was the largest and most luxurious recreational complex in Neibāde. It consisted of three buildings, a dance pavilion and a park. Only one building of the hotel, the same as what was once Saulkrasti outpatient clinic at 17 Ainažu Street, has survived until nowadays. |
