One of the most beautiful sections of the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route in Matsalu National Park, which leads through the agricultural lands and coastal meadows located near Matsalu Bay, where thousands of migrating cranes and geese gather in autumn. There are excellent birdwatching sites with towers near Haeska village (coastal meadows, shallow coves, small islets, cattle pastures) and at Cape Puise (coastal meadows with pastures, shoals). The owner uses Latvian products to make and offer more than 20 different wines, including some that are made of exotic flowers. You can taste and purchase wines made of berries, fruit, vegetables and flowers, including white jasmine, the elderberry tree, dandelions, the large cranberry, etc. There is a lily garden alongside which is the largest one in Eastern Europe and offers plants for sale. The day lily garden offers a look at globally famous types of day lilies which can be purchased. Many of these have been developed by the originator of the garden, Varis Baņģieris. More than 1,000 types of day lilies can be seen and purchased. The garden is open from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM every day in July and August, when the flowers bloom. The owner also offers tastings of homemade wine that is called "Vējkalnietis." |

castle owned by Livonian Order master
Walther von Plettenberg was located here
in the 16 century. During the reign of
Russian Empress Catherine the Great, a
recreational castle was built here. A
legend from the time says that a golden
carriage is at the bottom of the local Lake
Valgums.

This is an uncommon trail. The visitor will learn all about quite “ordinary” trees such as the oak, the linden, the hazelnut, the fir and the pine. The information is quite interesting, however, making use of the heritage of Latvian folklore. The site is located near the Zvārte rock. Visitors will spend around one hour on the trail.

The Krustkalni Nature Reserve was established in 1977, and the diversity of plants in the region is based both on the terrain – the Madona-Trepe embankment, a series of hillocks with low areas among them, swamps and small lakes – and on the biotope – natural meadows, forest glades, places where underground streams bubble up to the surface, and vast areas of forest with very old stands of trees. Some 800 types of plants have been defined in the reserve. It can be toured only in the company of a guide from reserve headquarters, and one must apply in advance. Visitors can visit the Krāku streams, Lake Svēte-Dreimaņi, and other sites. |

The classical skyline of Old Rīga can be enjoyed from several locations – Mūkusalas Street, between the railroad bridge and the stone bridge, from the stone bridge, from the A-B dam, from the grounds of the central office of the Swedbank bank, from the Vanšu bridge, and from the Ballast Dam at Ķīpsala. You can hike or bike from location to location. During the summer, little ships cruise up and down the Daugava to offer different views.

Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church of Ozolmuiža was built in 1820 by the foundation of
counts Plāteri-Zībergi. It is a stone building with a small bell tower. The church has a huge stone altar with
four columns and a massive cross. It is a monument of state importance.

The restaurant is in Bocmaņa Square in the centre of Salacgrīva and on the banks of the Salaca River. The battery is to the South of Ventspils, not far from the Piejūras Park. Work on the battery began in 1939. Today the site is a complete mess, standing out in a negative way from the tidy city itself. People seeking building materials and ferrous metals helped to tear the place down. It’s too bad that this historical location – one that might be of interest to tourists – is in such sad shape, and right at the gates of the city, to boot.

Ūla ir viena no skaistākajām un likumsakarīgi – arī populārākajām Lietuvas ūdenstūristu upēm. Tās galvenā pievilcība ir skaistā ainava ar augstajiem upes krastiem, kuros slejas iespaidīgas smilšu kraujas līdzīgi kā Irbes krastos Latvijā. Laivošanu var sākt no Mančagires (Mančiagirė) vai Zervinos ciemiem un turpināt līdz Ūlas ietekai Merķē un tālāk pa Merķi līdz pat Merķinei un Nemunai. Ūla nav plata, taču posmā no Zervinos ciema tajā nav neviena koku aizgāzuma vai cita šķēršļa, kuram laiva būtu jānes apkārt. Ašā straume, asie līkumi, dzidrais ūdens un tajā redzamā zemūdens pasaule rada patiesi patīkamu sajūtu! Upes krastos atrodas gan publiskas (apsaimnieko Lietuvas valsts meži), gan privātas ūdenstūristu apmetnes un atpūtas vietas. Šī ir vienīgā Baltijas upe, kur ūdenstūristiem ir jāpērk licence. Ūlas krastos atrodas divi interesanti apskates objekti – Ūlas atsegums (Ūlos atodanga) un spēcīgs avots – Ūlas acs (Ūlos akis). Savukārt, Merķe jau ir jau krietni platāka upe, taču ar acīm redzamu straumi un dažviet pat jaukām straujtecēm. Kaut arī Merķes krasti ir mazapdzīvoti, tajos atradīsim piemērotas nakšņošanas vietas. Pa Ūlu un Merķi no Zervinos līdz Merķinei sanāk „mierīgs” pusotras - divas dienas ilgs brauciens. |

The Devil Stone of Ubagova (Čorta kameņs). The cult place is situated in the Southern side of the
village Ubagova 30m to the N NW from the cemetery of the village. According to the legend, there are
ghosts so you shouldn’t walk there alone because they can trap you in the woods. The boulder is about 1.6
m high. The surface is smooth, without any cuts.

Tiskādi Old-Believers Prayer House was built in 1886 and reconstructed
in 1905. The large church was sanctified 100 years ago. It is situated in the district which is mostly populated by Old Believers. The church stands on the hill.

This was a coast guard facility with a zenith missile division, and it was meant to protect the outer border of the Soviet Union. At this time the Ventspils Naval Guard Battalion has an observation point at the location.
