The "Serpentīns" café is on the side of the Ventspils road (A10) and near the Strazde Lutheran Church. The lovely building has large windows. The café works with local farms and organises evenings of live music. Latvian cuisine: Oatmeal, potato pancakes, farmers’ omelettes, farmers’ breakfasts, baked cod, sautéed salmon, roast leg of pork, grilled pork with rhubarb sauce, hot rhubarb cobbler, Latvian beers. |

The family enterprise (formed in 2006) makes home-made ice-cream from fruit and berries. They make both classical – such as plombieres, cream, joghurt ice-creams and sorbets and nowadays cuisine’s „miracle”- sprat, blue cheese, horse-radish and potato ice-cream with tomato sauce. Till now 80 different ice-cream recipes have been tried. If you book a visit beforehand, you can have an excursion and learn everything about the process of making ice-cream from the chefs themselves. In the cafe it is possible to try different ice-cream dishes – each one with a different ice-cream sauce. The cafe also welcomes pets! Special foods: Horseradish ice cream with herring. |

This route invites you to visit the Kurzeme region and try the traditional dishes there. Nice attractions en route are the steep coast of the Baltic Sea in Jūrkalne and the medieval town of Kuldīga. In a 19th century watermill, which nowadays is an organic farm, the hostess will give you a masterclass in cooking regional dishes from fallow deer, trout, vegetables and fruit. The last stop on the return back to Riga is the Chocolate Museum at Pūre. |

The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route starts at the center of Mazirbe village where you can see the Livonian National House. Continuing through small forest and country roads past the former Mazirbe Naval school, it winds through small coastal Livonian villages: Košrags, Pitrags and then Saunags. The Livonian coast is the only place where you can get to know the cultural history heritage of one of the smallest peoples in the world, the Livonians. In this section, the indicating signs are in both the Latvian and Livonian language. At the end of route you will see Cape Kolka, the point where the Great Wave Sea meets the Little Wave Sea. It is one of the most popular bird-watching sites on the Baltic seacoast. |

The owners are in the process of renewing a more than a hundred-year-old wooden barn, where they plan to organize creative workshops for young people, with the participation of a blacksmith, carpenter and other craftsmen.
