The farm produces dairy products and strawberries. You can learn to bake rye bread, make cheese and ice cream, and look at sheep, goats, pigs, calves, cows, horses, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. If you like, you can help with the farm work and taste and purchase the products.

This is the only place in Latvia where old organs are restored and new ones are built.  The workshop also manufactures music boxes.  Tour groups can learn about the history and principles of organ building and about the instruments as such.  The workshop was installed in the stable of a former manse in 2004, and it is owned by Jānis Kalniņš.

This restricted area protects the highest hillock in the Alūksne highlands – Dēliņkalns Hill – as well as the biotopes on its hillsides. The local landscape is also protected. Downhill ski trails are on the mountain, and its southern side offers lovely views.

Viewing area is at the end of the Ēvaži shore trail (300 metres). The shore here has been washed by the waves and is up to 15 metres high. This is the only place along the Kurzeme shore of the Bay of Rīga where a high dune opens up such a lovely view of the bay water.

The Varakļāni Estate has a mansion which is known as one of the most outstanding monuments to Classicism in Latgale. It was built between 1783 and 1789 and designed by the Italian architect Vincento Macotti, and it was owned by Earl Michael Johan Borch. Late in the 18th century, the same architect designed the estate’s lovely and romantic landscape park, which was one of the first parks of its kind in Latvia. The Varakļāni Administrative District Museum is housed in the mansion today.

This was Coastal Defence Battery No. 500 at one time, and it was dismantled in 1955. There were four 130 mm cannons, and their foundations can still be spotted in the forest northeast from the lighthouse. They are mostly covered by moss and can be very hard to find. Those who are not familiar with the region will probably have the most trouble of all.

This ancient Courlandian castle hill has remnants of an ancient city.  Historical sources indicate that in 1263, the Courlandians handed the castle over to the Livonian Order without a battle and that the castle was then burned down.  The name of the place, Skābaržkalns, has to do with the name of the city, because hornbeam trees in the area were once known as grobi.

There are You can find marked bicycle trail Valmiera-Cēsis next to the CAMP CAUNĪTES. Guests can use canoes for fishing or short tours along the river Gauja.

This is a new farm that produces cheese and waits for groups of visitors.  People can help to make cheese and taste and buy it.  Lejnieki won a prize as the most orderly working farm in the Valka Administrative District.

This farm is where the Latvian author Rūdolfs Blaumanis (1863-1908), founder of modern dramaturgy in Latvia, lived and worked.  The farm has been restored, and it is a typical leased farm in Vidzeme with eight wooden buildings.  Educational events and tours are available, featuring family celebrations, the mischief of little imps, and farm work.  You can taste Latvian porridge, pancakes, tea, and wine “from the sweet bottle.”

Sarkanajās klintīs ir arī daudz dažādu avotiņu. Pazīstamākais no tiem ir Rūcamavots. Tam ir šāds nosaukums, jo tas, nākot ārā no zemes, izdod nelielu rūkoņu.

Interesanti, kāda izskatītos Latvijas lauku ainava, ja tajā šodien nebūtu saglabājušās muižu kompleksi, kas tiek izmantoti vēl joprojām?
