The hill is the highest point on the shores of the little Slocene River valley, and it is located in Tukums, at the side of Jelgavas Street. It opens up a broad view of the Slocene River valley and the town of Tukums with its historical centre on the opposite side of the valley. The view is particularly interesting in the evening, when the town is lit up. There is a monument to the liberators of Tukums.

Salīdzinoši liela un cilvēka mazskarta teritorija ziemeļos no Lubāna ezera, kas izceļas ar lielu purvu un mitro mežu, kā arī tajā dzīvojošo organismu daudzveidību. Cauri teritorijas austrumu daļai tek Aiviekste. Dabas liegums ir grūti pieejams, tajā nav izveidota ar tūrismu saistīta infrastruktūra, tādēl vislabākais veids ir to aplūkot no Lubānas - Gaigalavas ceļa, kā arī putnu vērošanas torņa pie Gomeļa ezera (Gūmelis), kurš gan 2007. g. rudenī bija cietis no apmeklētāju vandālisma. Teritorija ietilpst Lubāna mitrāja kompleksā.

Sts. Simon and Judas Roman Catholic Church of Dricāni was
built in 1859 on the top of the hill. There is the wooden altar of the Holy Spirit, decorated with woodcarvings, wooden statuettes and the icon of Simon and Jude.

Nature restricted area surrounds Tasu Lake and swampy shores of it in a narrow band. The territory was established to protect rare nesting and migratory birds. The territory is easily overseen from the narrow gravel roads all around the area not entering the actual protected area. Tasu Manor house is located to the South of nature restricted area.

Die Lettischen Schwarzköpfigen Schafe der Wirtschaft Ances wachsen in einer sauberen Umwelt – auf dem Gelände des Biosphärenschutzgebietes der Region Nord-Vidzeme, an der Grenze mit Estland, in der Gemeinde Naukšēni, wo niemals chemische Pflanzenschutzmittel und Düngemittel intensiv verwendet worden sind. Sowohl im Winter, als auch im Sommer bewegen sich Schafe frei, und der Zaun dient erstmals dazu, damit keine Wölfe und Wildschweine kommen könnten. In der Herde der Wirtschaft werden nur solche reinrassige Mutterschafe gehalten, die als Zwillinge oder Drillinge geboren sind, darunter auch Tiere für genetische Ressourcen. Die Vorgänger dieser Tiere haben Blutbeimischung von nur einer Sorte – des Deutschen Schwarzköpfigen Schafes. Die Schafe werden in Januar, Februar, August und September nur mit hochwertigen Lettischen Schwarzköpfigen Zuchtböcken in Gruppen gekreuzt. |

Eine alte livische Siedlung. Der livische Name der Siedlung lautet Mustanumm. Noch in der Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts wohnten hier die Liven. Die Vertreter der Familien Landmaņis, Morics un Otomers haben in Melnsils bei der Mündung des Flusses Baķupīte in die Rigaer Bucht drei Segelschiffe gebaut. One of the few pure stands of oak trees in Latvia, this one covers 19.6 ha, and it was declared to be a protected territory back in 1928. The oldest trees are 300 to 400 years old. The stand of trees can be found alongside the Ezernieki-Andzeļi road. There is a small car park, along with a hiking trail, an information stand, and a leisure area with a plank from which the northern bay and islands of Lake Ežezers can be seen very well. There are typical species of plants, mushrooms and insects here, but only a specialist will be able to recognise them. |

Der Fluss ist klein, aber hat ein großes Tal, das von der Straße Vecumnieki – Ilūkste durchquert wird. Der Name des Flusses Vilkupe ist mit dem ehrgeizigen Plan des kurländischen Herzogs Jacob verbunden, die Flüsse der Flussbecken von Daugava und Lielupe zu verbinden. Die Arbeiten an dem Verbindungskanal wurden angefangen, aber das Projekt wurde nicht realisiert. Der Fluss Vilkupe war in diesem Projekt als ein Teil des Verbindungskanals vorgesehen. In Bezug auf diese Tatsache ist es wert, über die Größe der Ideen und Innovationen eines kreativen mittelalterlichen Menschen nachzudenken. Ungefähr 4 km von der Ortschaft Vilkupe ist ein Fragment des Kanals markiert und zu besichtigen. |

Located in the centre of Atbrīvošanas Alley, this statue is a monument to the liberation of Latgale and the unity of Latvia and is officially called “Unified for Latvia.” The bronze monument was unveiled in 1939 (sculptor K. Jansons, designer L. Tomačisks). In 1940, the Soviet regime tried to destroy the monument, but it was restored in August 1943. A second attempt to destroy the monument occurred in June 1950, and this time the process was successful. After the restoration of Latvia’s independence, “Māra of Latgale” was installed for a third time on August 3, 1992, sculpted by the son of K. Jansons, A. Jansons, on the basis of old designs. “Māra of Latgale” is one of the best examples of monumental sculpture in Latvia. Latvian mythology personifies the goddess Māra as a provider of fertility for earth and a protection of life. The cross that is part of the ensemble is a symbol of the Christian faith. |
