Pirmais sniegs Baltijas valstīs parasti uzsnieg novembrī, bet īstā slēpošanas sezona sākas tikai ap Ziemassvētkiem un turpinās līdz pat marta beigām. Vidējā gaisa temperatūra ziemā ir -2 C0, aukstākais mēnesis – janvāris. Vissniegotākā Baltijā ir Igaunijas Dienvidu un Latvijas Ziemeļaustrumu daļa – tur atrodas arī populārākie slēpošanas kalni. Two restored country homes near Ape and the Rīga-Veclaicene highway.  Guests are welcome to utilise three weekend apartments with kitchens, double rooms and all the conveniences.  The ski trails on Ķauķu Hill and Dēliņkalns Hill are 15 km from the buildings.  There are farms which offer country goodies in the Ape Administrative District and near these homes.
