At the centre of this restricted area is the eutrophic Lake Tosmare, a former lagoon from the Littorina Sea. The lake and its surroundings offer protection to many plants and birds. At the southern end of the lake one can spot remnants of the former Liepāja fortification system, and to the West is one of the most important parts of that system – the Fortress canal. |

The roots of Saulkrasti Secondary School reach back to Pabaži, to 1912, when a young teacher – Olga Veicmane (after marriage: Cīrule) arrived from Riga to teach the sea captain Reisons’ daughter. Soon many other tutor-seekers joined her and in autumn of 1912 a school was established in Pabaži. The school had a good reputation, and pupils came from the entire surrounding area. In January of 1913, the school was moved to more spacious premises at 20 Rīgas Street. |

This barrow is on the western side of the Dunduri meadows and was built on the parking lot of the former collective farm. From the second level of the tower, you will have an excellent view of the meadows all the way to the Džukste River and the Kauguri canal. There are livestock accustomed to life in the wild, although they will sometimes be quite distant. This is a bird-watching location from the springtime until the second half of the summer. |

В южной части Ливан, где улица Земгалес упирается в Даугаву, можно не только осмотреть, но и опробовать для 21 века довольно необычное и экзотическое транспортное средство – одну из трех речных переправ Латвии. В отличие от Лигатненской, эту переправу приводит в действие двигатель, а не сила течения реки. Это осуществляется с помощью троса, который натянут через Даугаву. Паром состоит из понтонов Советской армии, которые предусматривались для строительства понтонных мостов для танков. Переправу построили ее владельцы. |

До восьмидесятых годов 17 столетия в тогдашнем Вецдаугавском микрорайоне, в местечке Сканстниеки стоял Даугавгривский замок, который, из-за естественного изменения русла Даугавы (когда-то Даугава протекала по руслу тогдашней Вецдаугавы), снесли и «перенесли» на левый берег Даугавы. От самого замка ничего не сохранилось, зато еще сегодня видны валы и остатки защитных рвов, которые использовались солдатами шведской армии как место стоянки в начале Северной войны. В любом случае это место, расположенное в северной части города, является интересным объектом исторического и военного наследия Риги, который стоит осмотреть.
