This long-distance tour follows the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route from the Lithuanian coast, starting on the island of Rusnė and continuing to the Curonian Spit, running along the Baltic Sea coast to Cape Kolka and finally reaching Rīga. On this route you will hike some sections of the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route and experience the diversity of coastal landscapes: rocky beaches, steep shores, overgrown beaches, bird migration sites, vast sandy beaches. You will walk on solitary beaches with no-one in sight for several kilometres just to suddenly find yourself in lively resort towns. There are both sections of hiking and bus transfers along the route. Initially you will visit the peculiar island of Rusnė with its bird migration sites, observation towers and the delta Crossing the Lithuanian/Latvian border on foot you will stop over at the Pape Nature Park and enjoy its lighthouse, wild horses, the authentic fishermen village and local museum. The walk on lone beaches takes you to the top of the highest dune in Latvia – the Pūsēnu dune – and afterwards continues to reach the village of Bernāti. Next on the route is the windy seaside city of Liepāja, also known as the Latvian capital of rock music. Karosta is another distinctive site in Liepāja – it is the former military town and nearly every street of this part of the city has some footprints of its military heritage. Heading further, your feet will take you through the solitary beaches of Ziemupe to the village of Pāvilosta. If you are lucky, you might find some ambers washed ashore. Pāvilosta is a small charming village with a marina and some notes of smoked fish lingering in the air. Moving on, from Ventspils through Slītere National Park, through the Livonian fishermen villages to finally reach the Kolka Cape – the meeting point of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga. Also, a top site for bird watching. At the end of the tour, the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route leads to Engure Nature Park, meandering through reed trails running between the villages of Mērsrags and Engure. The tour ends in Jūrmala with its wide sandy Beaches, the bustling urban life of a resort town, impressive villas and summer cottages, and the Ragakāpa Nature Park in the resort’s neighborhood Lielupe. |

"Veckūri" is a milk processor that produces non-traditional dairy products from the milk obtained on its farm. The farm is also ranked among the companies that have been awarded the State Export Council awards “Latvian Export Product 2015”. |

This grand hiking tour is provided for experienced hikers wishing to walk along a large part of the coasts of Latvia and Estonia, gain a detailed impression about the diverse coastal landscape, nature, birds and animals of the Baltic Sea. The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route sometimes runs through sandy beaches, sometimes along sections of beach covered in stones and pebbles. Sometimes the trail goes through coastal forests or stops at a fishermen’s village. There are many floodplain meadows, lagoons and shallow bays on the Estonian side, so sometimes the path goes along coastal trails and roads. In the end section of the route you will feel Estonia’s Nordic nature more. Part of the route runs along a sparsely populated seashore where you can be alone with yourself, but you will also be able to visit the most prominent cities. You will visit both capitals: Rīga and Tallinn. Enjoy the hospitality of the resort towns of Jūrmala, Pärnu and Haapsalu. During the hike, you will also get acquainted with the regions of small ethnic cultures: the Livonians in Latvia and the inhabitants of Kihnu in Estonia. |

Die Ostsee wird an der westlichen Küste von Kurzeme das Großmeer genannt. Hier gibt es hauptsächlich Sandstrände. Der Bereich des Großmeeres ist die am wenigsten bevölkerte Küstenregion in Lettland. Gleichwohl befindet sich dort auch die drittgrößte Stadt Lettlands Liepāja. Steilufer steigen vor Ihren Augen zwischen Pāvilosta und Sārnate empor. Die Dörfer sind ruhig und dünn besiedelt. Am Anfang der Route können Sie sich das militärische Erbe der Sowjetunion im Kriegshafen von Liepāja anschauen, in Pāvilosta regionalen Räucherfisch probieren und von dem Leuchtturm Užava eine der schönsten Aussichten der gesamten Route auf die Küste genießen. Die Route endet in der Hafenstadt Ventspils. Dort gibt es ein reiches Freizeitangebot und verschiedene Sehenswürdigkeiten, insbesondere für Familien mit Kindern. |

Viens no lielākajiem Augštaitijas pilskalniem, kas 2011. g. pēc vērienīgiem rekonstrukcijas darbiem ir izzināms jaunā kvalitātē - gan no infrastruktūras, gan arī ainaviskā viedokļa, jo iepriekš biezais pamežs (tagad retināts) traucēja uztvert iespaidīgo objektu. Arī no pilskalna plakuma paveras labs skats uz diviem blakus esošajiem ezeriem. Tā virsotnē apskatāms piemiņas akmens, kas vēsta par pirmā Lietuvas valsts prezidenta Antana Smetona (Antanas Smetona) apmeklējumu 1934. g. viņa 60 gadu jubilejā. Pilskalns it ticis apdzīvots jau I tūkstošgadē pirms Kristus. Uzskata, ka 14. – 15. gs. te atradusies hronikās aprakstītā Linkmenu pils. Jaunizveidotā taka pilskalnu savieno ar vēl vienu populāru apskates objektu – Ladakalni. |

Beautiful views are accessible from the Sabile castle hill (steps, a location for relaxation), Upurkalns Hill (no improvements) and Briņķpedvāle, which part of the Pedvāle Open-Air Art Museum. There are also the Drubaži nature trails. The road between Kandava and Sabile which runs along the right bank of the Abava and the Aizdzire-Kalnmuiža road which runs on the left bank of the Abava also offer beautiful landscapes.

1.2 km long, the trail passes through a unique terrain of hillocks and forests, with the height of the valley rising to as much as 15 metres. Visitors will find a diversity of plant life, as well as the beautiful little Kauliņupīte River, which crosses the rail at two points. The health trail was established in the late 1990s. |

Dieses Territorium befindet sich im Norden von Skrunda und ist ein wichtiger Ort für Wasservögel wärend des Vogelzugs. Schwäne nisten in den Teichen und Seeadler und andere Vögel wie zum Beispiel Falken und Regenpfeifer nutzen sie als Futterplatz. Das ist ein günstiger Platz zur Vogelbeobachtung, wenn er auch nicht speziell dafür eingerichtet wurde.

Ventspils ist eine der reichsten Städte in Lettland. Die Stadt erfreut mit einer ausgezeichneten Infrastruktur, einer sehr gut restaurierten Altstadt, einer Burg des Livländischen Ordens, mit sauberen, gut eingerichteten und weiß-sandigen Stränden, mit einer Promenade, schönen Fontänen, Blumenskulpturen, gepflegten Parks und verschiedenen Attraktionen. Die ganze Stadt ist familienfreundlich, aber die Kinder genießen am meisten den Strand der Blauen Flagge mit unterschiedlichen Schaukeln, Kletter- und Rutschmöglichkeiten, sowie die Kinderstadt, die in Zonen für Aktivitäten für unterschiedliche Altersgruppen eingerichtet ist. Die kurze Fahrt mit der Schmalspurbahn Mazbanitis zieht nicht nur Kinder, sondern auch Erwachsene an. Spazierpfade und Radrouten, sowie die Fahrt mit einem Schiff für Touristen bieten gute Möglichkeiten, die Stadt und die Küste zu erkunden. In Ventspils kann man Wasserfreuden sowohl in einem Indoor-Wasserpark, als auch in einem Outdoor-Wasserpark genießen. Wir empfehlen, zwei Ausflüge zu der malerischen Küste zu machen: Einen Ausflug in die traditionellen Fischerdörfer, wo man von den örtlichen Fischern frisch geräucherte Fische kaufen kann, und in den Nationalpark Slitere, wo man aus einem Leuchtturm eine wunderbare Aussicht genießen kann, und den zweiten Ausflug in die reizvolle Stadt Kuldiga, die mit ihrer hölzernen Architektur bekannt ist. Es ist leicht, diese Ausflüge zu unternehmen, weil die Straßen in diese Richtungen meistens ziemlich leer sind. |

Am westlichen Ufer des Cirma Sees erhebt sich die 1830 von Feldsteinen erbaute Kirche. Ein berühmtes Gemälde der Jungfrau Maria, dem Wunderkräfte zugeschrieben werden, macht das Gotteshaus zu einem beliebten Wallfahrtsziel. |
