The Turaida Museum Reserve is found at the place where the deep gullies of a number of small streams split up the right bank of the ancient Gauja River valley. The Turaida Museum Reserve features monuments of Baltic importance, and their history dates back more than 1,000 years. Among the treasures are the Turaida Estate (21 buildings), the grave of the Rose of Turaida, the Turaida Lutheran Church (one of the oldest wooden churches in Latvia, 1750), and the Turaida Castle. Nearby is Folk Song Hill, where various thematic events are organised. |

Another area where the manifestations water-soluble lime in the earth can be found. As the lime dissolves, there are empty areas underground which eventually collapse. To the East of Skaistkalne is a leisure area where dry and full holes of various sizes can be found.

The “Lamb Club” is a farm in Mazsalaca, and it is special because the sheep live in a real club! The owners offer the atmosphere of a farm at which the sheep play major roles. Enjoy mutton and sheep milk foods and beverages, feel how comfortable it is to read your favourite while sitting on a fluffy sheepskin, and, in order not to get cold by the campfire in the evening, you can purchase warm woollen socks and woven woollen cloaks. The owners hope that people from Latvia and all around the world will spend more time at the farm, because accommodations involve a new glamping tent that is as close as possible to nature and the healthy rural environment. Don’t lose a lick of the comfort that you are used to in your everyday life! The owners, Ilze and Valters, will be happy to give you a tour during which they talk about herding sheep. If you contact them in advance, they will prepare a tasty mutton meal for you. The tour can also be supplemented with various activities such as games, quizzes and creative workshops at which sheep wool is utilised. |

The mouth of the most beautiful river of Vidzeme. On the seashore between the mouths of River Gauja and River Daugava, one of the largest dune ranges in Latvia with distinctive parabolic dunes overgrown with forest (wooded dunes) is situated. The Mouth of River Gauja is unique as it is one of the few major rivers in Latvia and in EU countries to flow into the sea naturally. There is no harbour or other hydro-engineering construction. It is a popular recreation area in the vicinity of Riga and Saulkrasti while, unfortunately, the lack of infrastructure makes it suffer from anthropogenic load. Not far from the rivermouth, hidden in dunes, there are pillboxes which were built in 1920 or 30ies as anti-airborne barriers. There was a whole range of them along the coastline from the mouth of the River Lielupe to the mouth of the River Gauja forming a part of the Daugavgrīva Fortress fortifications. The pillbox is made of concrete, ca 1.5m thick. Every year, on the 3rd Sunday in August, a lamprey festival takes place in Carnikava town by the Gauja rivermouth. Carnikava is called the Lamprey Capital as it is famous for its lamprey fishing tradition and generous catches. The Mouth of the River Gauja is a good bird-watching area, especially in spring and autumn when one can observe the highest variety of species. The Kaigari farm is in the Mežotne Parish of the Bauska Administrative District and specialises in grain farming. The farm makes active use of EU funding, some of which has been used to buy modern agricultural equipment. The farm has some 400 ha of land, and the apple orchard offers a very beautiful landscape, including the Lielupe River valley. |

A straight street which runs through Ķemeri in the northwestern-southeastern direction. The street's name is a proof that it is the former historical boundary between the regions of Vidzeme and Kurzeme. Near the intersection of Robežu and Tukuma streets, you can notice the former pharmacy building-the memory of the former resort of the all-union significance. On the walls there has survived the pharmacy-related symbolism. |

The tour from Riga to Tallinn combines natural and cultural heritage and includes lovely landscapes and 15 nature trails which cross marshlands, meadows and forests along the shores of the Baltic Sea, including several protected nature reserves. Many trails are equipped with viewing towers for birdwatching. Randu meadows near Ainazi contains one third of Latvia's entire plant species. A boardwalk leads through reeds to a viewing platform with views over the meadow and the sea. Saaremaa island is interesting with very different natural attractions to the mainland - dolomite cliffs, juniper heaths, a meteorite lake and rocky sea shore. The tour passes rural farms and traditional villages typical of the coastal areas. Hiiumaa island is a laid back place and retains a very Estonian atmosphere with an important bird reserve at Kaina Bay, unusual Saare Tirp as well as several small islets off its south-eastern coast. Back on the mainland, Paldiski peninsula gives a glimpse of the recent history with its former Soviet military base. |

The current Ventspils airport began its life as a military object. Today regular passenger flights to and from Rīga have been suspended, and the airport is only used for small planes.

This may be an ancient cult object, and today it is a little hill in the dunes that is a bit larger than other local hills. It is said that a church once sank into the dune. This tale suggests that there was a Christian or pagan prayer place here at one time. (Source: Roja TIC) |

The rest complex is situated on the shore of the man-made water reservoir, and there are two saunas on the territory – the Big sauna and the Small sauna. In the building of the Big sauna it is possible to organise different events for as many as 40 people, and in summertime – till 60 people. In the Small sauna – up to 20 people. Apart from the saunas, there are offered 20 different picnic places with tables, places for grills and tents, volleyball playgrounds, boats and water-bicycles for rent. |

The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route leads around the Pakri Peninsula, from whose rocky shores you will discover the most beautiful coastal landscapes in northwest Estonia. It goes through the centre of Paldiski and, after having reached the fortress bastions of Peter I, it turns towards the Pakri Lighthouse going across the upper part of the impressive Pakri Cliffs. Further on up to Kersalu, there are both ups in the shape of rocks and downs where the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route meanders along a sandy and rocky seacoast and a beautiful pine forest. |
