The museum is in the Lielvārde Park. It is in the granary of the Lielvārde Estate that was built in the early 19th century. It was later used as a residential building. A veranda was added to it in 1922. The museum has been there since 1970, and it features exhibits about the Latvian national epos “Lāčplēsis” and its author, Andrejs Pumpurs (1841-1902). The museum also features information about the history and ethnography of the Lielvārde Administrative District. Alongside it is a large rock that weighs around 80 tonnes and is known as Lāčplēsis’ Bed. A broken part of the rock is known as the Lāčplēsis blanket. Both rocks were once on the banks of the Daugava River next to the Lielvārde island. Waters from the Ķegums hydroelectric power plant now make waves in that area. Nearby is the so-called Spīdala log that was brought from Aizkraukle.

Novembra Street once housed the first Old Believer prayer house (1908-1928), the St Boris and Gleb Orthodox Cathedral (1905), the Daugavpils Mother of God Catholic Church (1905), and the Daugavpils Martin Luther Lutheran Church (1893). |

St Peter’s is one of the oldest historical monuments in the Baltic States, and it is also the best place from which to survey the historical centre of Rīga, which is part of the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. You can see the central part of Old Rīga, City Hall Square, the Pārdaugava region on the opposite side of the river, and even – during clear weather – the Bay of Rīga. The tower of the church is 123 metres high, but the viewing location is at a height of 72 metres.

Istras pauguraines dabas parkā nav ar tūrismu saistīti labiekārtojumi, bet šo teritoriju var apskatīt arī „no malas”, braucot pa grantēto ceļu no Soboļinas uz Osinovku, kas iet līdztekus parka ziemeļu robežai (skats uz Šķaunes ezeru).

This is the thickest common juniper (Juniperus communis) in Latvia and the Baltic States. It stands in the middle of a field and looks wonderful. The tree is sometimes known as the Rieteklis juniper, because the Latvian poet Rieteklis (Jūlijs Eduars Balodis, 1856-1940) like to sit under it.

The potters engage in traditional pottery from various eras, and they also study ancient forms, materials and methods which ancestors centuries ago put to use. You can tour the facility, examine the kiln, work with clay, purchase ceramics products, and inspect a collection of ancient tools and ceramics. You are invited to attend the opening of the kiln, as well. |

This garden on the banks of the Bērze River is known as a rock fairy tale and a miraculous garden. The garden has rocks of various forms and sizes, including milling stones, distance markers and border posts related to parishes. The exhibition is supplemented by decorative plants and compositions of plants that are the responsibility of the lady of the house. |

The family enterprise (formed in 2006) makes home-made ice-cream from fruit and berries. They make both classical – such as plombieres, cream, joghurt ice-creams and sorbets and nowadays cuisine’s „miracle”- sprat, blue cheese, horse-radish and potato ice-cream with tomato sauce. Till now 80 different ice-cream recipes have been tried. If you book a visit beforehand, you can have an excursion and learn everything about the process of making ice-cream from the chefs themselves. In the cafe it is possible to try different ice-cream dishes – each one with a different ice-cream sauce. The cafe also welcomes pets! Special foods: Horseradish ice cream with herring. |

The Zemgale region is a fertile flatland. There are many modern farms, including some that will allow you to learn about life in the countryside and the heritage of agricultural history. You will start your trip and then take the "Milky Way" route to a dairy farm. Next you will visit Jelgava, the former capital of the Duchy of Courland from the 16th to the 18th century. The history of the town can be discovered via an interactive exhibition in the steeple of the St Trinity Church in Jelgava, from which you can also get a good view of the city from a 9th-floor platform. Next you will visit a farm where you will learn about Latvia traditions and bake bread together with the lady of the house. From there, the route will lead to a grain farm, where you will find a collection of dairy processing equipment and a playground for children. You can spent the night in a field of grain or a design hotel that has a traditional farm and a collection of restored old automobiles. Along the way, you will stop in Bauska to see its City Hall and its collection of ancient measuring equipment. Grain traditions will really be appreciated at a farm that uses its own grain and roughly ground flour to produce a wide range of traditional foods. Finally, you will visit a collection of tools, farm equipment and household items that are all typical of Latvia's countryside. |

The museum’s main house in Kärdla (open all year round) and branches in Kassari and Käina (open in summer) give an insight into wool manufacturing, seafaring, agriculture and manor estates on the island, islanders´ life through tsarist and Soviet regimes and independence. A tour of professional farms to offer a look at modern and technologically developed farms. During the introductory day, participants will tour Rīga, which is part of the UNESCO List of World Heritage, and the Rīga Central Market, which is one of the largest closed markets of its type in Europe. The next day there will be a meeting with specialists from the Latvian Agriculture Ministry and agricultural NGOs. Next we will tour an ecological facility for farm waste, which is a pan-European initiative in the context of which heat that is manufactured is used to heat greenhouses, thus ensuring an ideal environment for farming (flowers and tomatoes). We will visit innovative farms that collect birch juice for products such as biological birch juice wine (rose, semi-sec), biological birch juice foaming wine, birch juice lemonade, and syrup. The next morning will begin with a visit to a farm that produces high-quality vegetables and potatoes, successfully dealing with the storage and sale of it produce, as well as with logistical aspects of the process. Along the way, we will visit the ruins of the Koknese castle, which is on the banks of Latvia’s legendary Daugava River. We will also visit a farm that grows hemp for various food products. We will spend the night at an aristocratic estate that is now a complex for accommodations and spa treatments. The next morning, we will be off to one of Latvia’s newest beer breweries for a tour and tastings. Around noon, we will visit a farm that manufactures co-generated biomass head during the winter and heats greenhouses. We will return to Rīga in the evening. |

Ūla ir viena no skaistākajām un likumsakarīgi – arī populārākajām Lietuvas ūdenstūristu upēm. Tās galvenā pievilcība ir skaistā ainava ar augstajiem upes krastiem, kuros slejas iespaidīgas smilšu kraujas līdzīgi kā Irbes krastos Latvijā. Laivošanu var sākt no Mančagires (Mančiagirė) vai Zervinos ciemiem un turpināt līdz Ūlas ietekai Merķē un tālāk pa Merķi līdz pat Merķinei un Nemunai. Ūla nav plata, taču posmā no Zervinos ciema tajā nav neviena koku aizgāzuma vai cita šķēršļa, kuram laiva būtu jānes apkārt. Ašā straume, asie līkumi, dzidrais ūdens un tajā redzamā zemūdens pasaule rada patiesi patīkamu sajūtu! Upes krastos atrodas gan publiskas (apsaimnieko Lietuvas valsts meži), gan privātas ūdenstūristu apmetnes un atpūtas vietas. Šī ir vienīgā Baltijas upe, kur ūdenstūristiem ir jāpērk licence. Ūlas krastos atrodas divi interesanti apskates objekti – Ūlas atsegums (Ūlos atodanga) un spēcīgs avots – Ūlas acs (Ūlos akis). Savukārt, Merķe jau ir jau krietni platāka upe, taču ar acīm redzamu straumi un dažviet pat jaukām straujtecēm. Kaut arī Merķes krasti ir mazapdzīvoti, tajos atradīsim piemērotas nakšņošanas vietas. Pa Ūlu un Merķi no Zervinos līdz Merķinei sanāk „mierīgs” pusotras - divas dienas ilgs brauciens. |

The family restaurant "Hercogs" is situated in the centre of the city of Jelgava, alongside Duke Jacob Square. The chefs use local ingredients and have a partnership with the “Rudiņi” deer garden. Latvian cuisine: Cold soup, venison goulash soup, venison chop, roast pike-perch or catfish, roast pork, sautéed lamb, potato pancakes, sea buckthorn dessert.
