The first wooden church was built here in 1252, and the brick church was built in 1665. It burned down and was restored in 1672, but it was rebuilt in later years. There are important artistic monuments in the interior of the church – the altar, the pulpit and the painted organ. Legendary Duke Jacob Kettler of Courland (1610-1682) was baptised in the church and married Princess Charlotte Louise from Brandenburg in it. During the Soviet era, the church housed a museum and a concert hall. According to legend, the name of the church is based on a woman called Catherine, who donated funds to build the church, was subjected to lies, tortured and then proclaimed as a saint. Above the side entrance is a medallion of a woman with a crown of thorns, torture equipment and a sword in her hand. Elements of this story can also be seen in the herald of Kuldīga. The steeple of the church offers a good look at the roofs of the ancient part of the city. |

Ventspils is one of the most afluent Latvian towns with excellent infrstructure, well- restored Old town and Livonian Order Castle, clean and well equipped white sandy beaches, promenade, arty fountains, flower sculptures, manicured parks and various attractions.Whole town is family oriented but kids particularly enjoy the Blue Flag beach with different swings, climbing and sliding options as well as Kids Town with activity zones for different age groups. A short trip by "Mazbanitis", the narrow-gauge steam engine is a special attraction for kids as well as adults. Walking and cycling routes as well as trip on the tourist boat give a good chance to explore the town and coast. Water pleasures can be fully enjoyed at indoor or outdoor acqua parks. We suggest two self-drive excursions in vicinity featuring scenic sea coast, traditional fishing villages where smoked fish can be bought from fishermen, Slitere National Park with beautiful view from its lighthouse, charming Kuldiga with its wooden arhitecture. Driving there is easy since roads are rather empty. |

Braucot cauri Kaives ciemam, var pievērst uzmanību Kaives muižas „atliekām”. Vietas vēsture ir sena, jo jau 1440. gadā Livonijas ordeņa mestrs piešķīra šeit īpašumu Johanam Kaivenam. Kungu māja gāja bojā 1905. gadā, bet pārvaldnieka ēku nopostīja 2. pasaules kara laikā. 1956. g. nodega kalte, bet pirms trijām desmitgadēm - muižas krogs. Līdz mūsdienām palikusi tikai 1861. gadā celtā magazīna (sarkana ķieģeļu ēka) pakalnā un tai blakus esošais parks, kurā izveidots neliels skulptūru dārzs, estrāde un atpūtas vieta. |

This is a large set of coastal meadows, ancient rivers and areas of reeds. It is found at a location where the Daugava River used to flow – between Vecmīlgrāvis and Vecāķi. There are inland dune meadows here, complete with the very rare silver grass. Vecdaugava is an important location for nesting birds and several uncommon plant species. On the southern end of the Vecdaugava peninsula, at a place called Skanstnieki, one can find remnants of medieval Swedish fortifications. The Vecdaugava Regional Research and Fishing Museum is here, as well.

Arī Senču pilskalns, Baznīckalns un Velna gulta. Pirmo reizi minēts 1230. gadā kā viens no senās kuršu zemes Vanemas centriem. Ar šo objektu var sākt Abavas senlejas skaistāko skatu apzināšanu. Līdz pilskalna plakumam ved kāpnes, un no tā redzami senlejas vārti un upes ielejas kreisā krasta nogāze, kuras piekājē izvietojusies Jaunkandava.

Mūsdienās redzamais iespaidīgais dievnams tapis ilgākā laika posmā. Jau 1870. g. latviešu draudze sāka vākt ziedojumus neogotiskās baznīcas celtniecībai, ko pabeidza 1904. gadā (V. Neimaņa projekts). Ēkas iekšpusi rotā dekoratīvi zvaigžņu velvju griesti, bet tās altārdaļā izvietotasmākslinieka J. Šķērstena veidotās vitrāžas (1940. g.) un 17. gs. kristāmtrauks. Baznīcu ieskauj plašs dārzs. |

The estate is in the centre of Ineši, 5 km to the south of Vecpiebalga. The estate dates back to the latter half of the 17th century, when an ornate castle for the noble Sheremetyev family was built here in the style of Classicism and on the banks of the little Orisāre River. The castle was built down during the 1905 Revolution, but restored four years later. Around the castle is a lovely landscape park. The castle served as the prototype for the Slātava Estate in the famous novel “Age of the Surveyors” by the Kaudzīte brothers. In 1992, the Piebalga Administrative District Museum was opened in the wine cellar of the castle, which is home to the Ineši Parish Council and a porcelain painting studio. Organised tours of the estate and its surrounding area are available. |

Atrodas Tērvetes ziemeļrietumu daļā, Tērvetes upītes krasta līkumā. „Sprīdīšos” sava mūža pēdējo desmitgadi (no 1922. līdz 1933. g.) strādāja un atpūtās latviešu rakstniece Anna Brigadere (1861. - 1933). Šajā laikā top lugas, stāsti, dzejoļi un rakstnieces atmiņu triloģija. No laukakmeņiem celtā „Sprīdīšu” ēka uzbūvēta 1840 g. Te sākotnēji darbojušās ūdensdzirnavas, tad skola, dzīvojuši mežziņi. Tagad šeit aplūkojams rakstnieces memoriālais muzejs. No „Sprīdīšiem” var uzsākt garāku pastaigu pa Tērvetes dabas parku, kur izvietoti no koka darinātie A. Brigaderes pasaku varoņi. |
