In Aizkraukle, drive down Enerģētiķu Street to the Selonian side (there will be small “pockets” at the side of the road) to see one of the best views of the Daugava River valley, reminding us of what this fateful river was like before the power plant was built. You will see that the river has eroded the steep cliffs on the right bank. The further part of the valley is part of the Daugava Nature Park.

Workshops und Hauscafés sind überall in Estland verbreitet, doch hauptsächlich sind sie in der Region Peipsimaa zu treffen. In den Workshops bereiten die Teilnehmer mit Hilfe des Kursleiters 3–4 Gerichte zu, die sie nachher gemeinsam  miteinander genießen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf örtlichen Produkten der Peipsimaa-Gegend und beliebten Rezepten. Die Workshops finden meistens draußen statt, es werden  Feuer, Grill entzündet und Kochkessel und Samowar benutzt. Im Winter finden die Workshops sogar auf dem Eis des Peipussees statt.

In dem historischen Gebäude ist 1964 ein Museum eingerichtet worden. 
Der Name der Schule steht in enger Verbindung zu dem lettischen Dichter Jānis Poruks (1871 – 1911), dem auch hier ein Gedenkzimmer eingerichtet ist. Im 2. Stockwerk kann man ein Klassenzimmer sehen, in einer alten Schulbank sitzen. Hier gibt es noch eine alte Tafel, einen Globus und die Schulglocke. Im Schlafraum sieht man Schülerbetten und die Brotkästchen, gerade so wie zu Zeiten der Hauptpersonen aus Poruks Erzählungen. Im Museum werden jährlich der Geburtstag des Dichters und das Osterfest besonders gefeiert.

This estate is surrounded by an ancient and geometric landscape.  During the latter half of the 19th century, it had a landscape style with various elements of geometry.  The park covers 4.2 ha and has ancient linden, maple, elm, oak and other decorative bushes, with more than 20 types of plants that have turned into wood.

The Sietiņiezis cliff is on the right bank of the Gauja River between Valmiera and Jāņmuiža (follow signs along the road). There is a circular nature trail here. Sietiņiezis is one of the largest white sandstone cliffs in Latvia, up to 15 m high and around 500 metres long. There is an interesting diversity in form here, with small caves and niches, erosion-based ravines, as well as sandstone formations which are reminiscent of poles. The word "sietiņš" refers to "sieve," and the cliff is so called because bees have drilled holes into it for time eternal. From the southern part of Sietiņiezis, you can get a good look at the ancient Gauja River valley, and all around it are lovely pine forests. There is a place on the banks of the Gauja which is meant for campfires and meals.

This is the most modern rabbit farm in the Baltic States. The animals live in cages in a shed, but there are also cages outside where they can be viewed. Children will love contacts with 24 types of rabbits, as well as an opportunity to study the surrounding area from a viewing tower.
