''Lauku ceļotājs'' participates in the TransCSR project's 2nd intermediate meeting in Birmingham

26.06.2014

On the 17th and 18th of June, the University College of Birmingham (England) have hosted the 9 partners of the EU project TransCSR (Transparency of CSR skills through ECVET in European tourism, EC Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation (DE/13/LLP-LdV/TOI/147659)) in order to plan the next steps of this Life Long Learning project.

Started in October 2013 and ending in September 2015, TransCSR aims at the transparency and acknowledgement of CSR skills in the tourism sector of at least six European countries using the tools of the ECVET system (European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training).

Each partner has realized in its own country, a study of the available tourism trainings, which include CSR. The representatives of the University of Eberswalde (HNE) in Germany have analyzed the data collected by the partners and have presented their first conclusions. The 6 participant countries (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, England and Latvia) have one common point: the tourism trainings focusing on CSR are very limited. Indeed, the only training focusing 100% on this specific topic is realized and promoted by kate, the lead applicant of the project (Germany), through the training course for CSR Managers. During these 2 intense days, the 14 participants have realized a workshop in order to analyse deeply the learning outcomes of CSR’ trainings applied at the tourism sector.

The participants and the special guest, Bologna’ University, have discussed the past activities realized during the 8 months following the kick-off meeting hold in Stuttgart in November 2013. This meeting allowed the partners to choose the adapted methodology for the realisation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the learning agreements (LA) but even more for the elaboration of the self-assessment tool. Indeed, though this platform the professionals, students in tourism and CSR will have the possibility to evaluate their knowledge, competences and skills regarding CSR in tourism.

This tool will be one of the main result of TransCSR and will be available in 6 languages in April 2015. Some 200 people from all over Europe will test it in order to implement its efficiency and performance.
