The “backbone” to this park is the valley of the Šventoji (Holy) River. One of the most impressive Devonian cliffs in Lithuania can be seen from the river – Vetygalos atodanga. On the shores of the Varius stream is a cliff made of quartz and sand – Variaus atodanga. 6 km to the S of Anykščiai is Lithuania’s second largest rock (5.7 m high, ~100 m3) – Puntukas akmuo.

Viena no slepenākajām vietām kādreizējā Padomju Latvijā - bunkuri ir bijušais raķešu vadības punkts un patvertne. Bunkurus izveidoja 1950. un 1960. gadu mijā Padomju armijas vajadzībām. Par atrašanos šajā teritorijā draudēja bargs sods. Celtnes izveidošanai ar milzīgām 16- riteņu kravas automašīnām tika atvesti lieli dzelzbetona bloki. Pēc trīs bunkuru izveidošanas, papildus nostiprināšanai un nosiltināšanai tos apbēra ar granti. Celtne sastāv no 2 x 3 sekcijām, kas pievienotas vidējam gaitenim.

Blakus ēkā atradās skola, kad 1946. gadā tā daļēji bija izdegusi, tika noslēgts līgums ar Padomju armijas garnizonu par telpu īri. Tā Valkas pilsētas centrā radās militārais centrs un Valka kļuva par Padomju Savienībai svarīgu kodolbruņojuma objektu.

Die erste Kirche war hier schon am Anfang des 18. Jhs. Danach wurde die zweite und die dritte – die heutige – Kirche (1847 – 1848) gebaut. Das Gotteshaus hat sowohl im Ersten Weltkrieg, als auch während der Sowjetzeit gelitten, als sich hier von 1969 bis 1993 eine Werkabteilung für Watteherstellung befand. Heute bekommt das Gebäude langsam seine Gestalt zurück. In den 1990er Jahren war es in sehr schlechtem Zustand. Es ist noch zu erwähnen, dass von 1826 bis 1856 in diesem Gotteshaus als Küster und Orgelspieler der lettische Dichter und Übersetzer Ansis Līventāls (1803 – 1878) gearbeitet hat. Neben der Kirche befindet sich seine Grabstätte mit einem Denkmal, sowie der Friedhof der im Ersten Weltkrieg gefallenen russischen und deutschen Soldaten und das Grabdenkmal des Pfarrers und Schriftstellers Jacob Florentin Lundberg (1782 – 1857).

Smārdes krogs (Wirtshaus von Smārde) befindet sich an dem historischen Platz des alten Wirtshauses mit Möglichkeit einen Happen zu essen. Ungefähr 1 00 m nach Osten befindet sich der Brüderfriedhof und Denkmal an die im Zweiten Weltkrieg gefallenen Soldaten.

Der Landgutkomplex von Bebrene(im Stil Barock) hat sich vom Ende des 19. Jhs. bis zum Anfang des 20. Jhs. gebildet. Die Dominante des Komplexes ist das im Jahr 1896 gebaute (Architekt L. J. L. Marconi) Schloss der Grafen Plater-Sieberg, in dem heute das Gymnasium von Bebrene haust. Bis heute haben sich ein prachtvolles Tor und ein ungewöhnlich aussehender gemauerter Zaun erhalten. Das Landgut wird von einem Park mit einem symmetrisch angelegten Parterre und mit reichlichen Anpflanzungen von ausländischen Baumarten eingeschlossen.

Before its flooding, the canyon of the Daugava River between Pļaviņas and Koknese was one of the most outstanding and beautiful parts of the Baltic terrain, and Oliņkalns hill was one of the largest castle hills in Latvia.  The Andrejs cliff as up to 20 metres high, and it was part of the Daugava canyon.  Before the area was flooded because of the construction of the Pļaviņas hydroelectric power plant, there were rapids near the hill that made it hard for rafters to sail down the river.  Today it is a small island in the reservoir of the plant (it can be seen from the side of the Rīga-Daugavpils highway (A6) opposite Stukmaņi).  It is separated from the shore by 300 metres of river, under which the Dūņas valley is now resting.  A small part of the ramparts of the castle hill can still be seen on the island along with the ruins of an open-air stage and a few metres of the dolomite cliff that have remained above water.  It is thought that the Alene castle was on the hill in the 13th century.  Latvian mountain climbers installed a memorial stone in 1998 opposite Oliņkalns hill.

Es gibt Zeugnisse, dass die erste Mühle hier gleichzeitig mit der Burg im 13.Jh.  erbaut wurde. Zur Zeit Herzog Jakobs wurde in der Mühle Schießpulver hergestellt. Später war sie der erste Ort in Kurland, in dem Papier hergestellt wurde. Seine jetzige Gestalt erlangte das Gebäude im 19. Jh. In der Sowjetzeit befand sich hier eine Metalverabeitungswerkstatt.
