BURSH brewery – one of the smallest breweries in Latvia which is situated between Zemgale, Vidzeme, Latgale and Selija territories – in the Plavinu territory of Aiviekste district. Beer connoisseurs are offered dark and light beer BURSH. BURSH is made of water, barley malt, hop and yeast, is boiled on a firewood stove, fermented in oak barrels and prepared for 30 days. LLC „ECOS” uses only natural raw material in the process of brewing. Beer is made according to the special recipes made especially for BURSH brewery and with attention to traditiaonal methods of brewing beer.

The Soviet Border Guard arrived at Lapmežciems (its border with Ragaciems) in the mid-1960s and left in 1991.  Some 50 military personnel were stationed here.  The military personnel and local residents organised various events and celebrations.  The only thing that worried locals was a radar which was said to cause various problems.  The zenith missiles were dismantled and taken away in 1991.  An apartment building is still on what was then the military base.

The owner has a collection of some 2,000 spoons which he has carved from 70 types of wood from trees and bushes during more than 30 years. The smallest spoon is made of osier, while the largest one, “A European Spoon,” is larger than the height of a human being. The artist also produces paintings made of wood. You can watch him at work, purchase the spoons, and tour his museum.

Der Betrieb grenzt an die Stadt Zilupe. Melonen, Wassermelonen, Kürbisse werden auf freiem Feld angebaut. Der Wirt ist einer der wenigen lettischen Meister des Flechtens mit Birkenrinde, die Wirtin stammt aus einer alten Gärtnern-Familie und ist zertifizierte Gartenplanerin, ihr Sohn hingegen ist Töpfer. Alle Handwerker bieten auch Vorführungen, kreative Workshops an und nehmen Bestellungen entgegen.

The castle hill of Milka is situated near Lake Sālaja and River Malta; 27m above the lake level. Local businessman cleaned the hill and placed the statue of Mother of God there. It is a a symbol of Latgalian strong faith into God and Virgin Mary.

Xранилище старинных предметов находится на втором этаже здания Туристического информационного центра в Нице. Здесь представлен более чем столетний народный костюм Ницы со всеми неотъемлемыми принадлежностями - юбкой, корсажем, кафтаном и шапкой с «ушками». В ницанском сундуке для приданого хранятся работы местных рукодельниц, которые продолжают местные ремесленнические традиции. Посетители могут ознакомиться с ницанскими одеялами, платками, скатертями и другими пригодными в хозяйстве вещами, а также с рукавицами и носками.

Die größte ständige Ausstellung in den baltischen Staaten, die die materielle Kultur der Semgallen in der Eisenzeit zeigt. Eine reiche Sammlung von semgallischen Schmuckstücken, Waffen und Haushaltsgegenständen, die in den baltischen Staaten größte Sammlung von Schwertern. Die Ausstellung ist in den rekonstruierten Schutzräumen der hölzernen Burg von Tērvete (12. Jh.) eingerichtet. Jährlich findet am zweiten Wochenende im August das Fest der Semgallen statt, das die größten, dem Frühmittelalter gewidmeten Festspiele in den baltischen Staaten sind.

Dabiskā zemesragā starp Lielo un Mazo Ludzas ezeru 14. gs. beigās slejās seno latgaļu koka pils, kuras vietā Livonijas ordenis uzcēla Latgales varenāko mūra pili. Tā bija iespaidīga trīsstāvu celtne kvadrāta formā ar sešiem torņiem, trīs vārtiem un divām priekšpilīm. Pēc krievu iebrukuma Latgalē 1481. g., Ludzas pili atjaunoja 1525. g. 1654. g. to atkal izposta Krievijas cara Alekseja Mihailoviča karaspēks. Jau 18. gs. no pils bija palikušas tikai drupas, kas arī mūsdienās ir ļoti iespaidīgas un ainaviskas (ar skatu uz Lielo Ludzas ezeru un baznīcu torņiem).
