Ein Familienunternehmen, das sich mit der Herstellung von kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten und Süßwaren in der Gemeinde Jaunannas der Region Alūksne beschäftigt. Leckere Fleischrouladen, die nach Großmutter-Rezepten zubereitet werden, und sonstige Fleischwaren in großer Auswahl sowie spezielle Süßwaren aus der Konditorei Gustiņš kann man im Geschmacksladen Gustiņs in Alūksne kaufen. Man kann köstliches und leckeres wie hausgemachtes Essen und für die Region Alūksne typische „malenische“ Gerichte (nach vorheriger Anmeldung) im Café Gustiņš genießen.

Das Museum „Kaikaši” befindet sich ~ 1 km südwestlich vom Zentrum der Stadt Vecpiebalga, in einer kleinen Ortschaft Kaikaši. Auf dem Hof „Kaikaši” ist ein lettischer Schriftsteller Antons Austriņš (1884 – 1934) geboren. In Vecpiebalga hat der künftige Schriftsteller eine Grundallgemeinbildung erhalten. Eins der bekanntesten Werke von A. Austriņš ist das Geschichtenbuch „Jünglein” (1931). Das Museum, in dem sich verschiedene  Gegenstände des ländlichen Alltagslebens und mit dem Schriftsteller verbundene Exponate (auch geschriebene Sammelbände und Bücher) befinden, lohnt es sich, unter Begleitung von örtlichem Guide zu besichtigen.

Jāņa luterāņu baznīca, kā arī 19. gs. beigās celtās koka ēkas starp Jāņa, Katoļu un Atmodas ielu veido neparastu pilsētbūvniecības kompleksu, kam piešķirts kultūras pieminekļa statuss. Staigājot pa vēsturisko centru, uzmanība jāpievērš ēku durvīm un to vērtnēm, logu ailēm, balkonu margām u.c. elementiem.

Baltic States are lucky to have plenty of untouched natural territories. During the Cambrian, Silurian and Devonian eras, the territory of the current Baltic States was often covered by seawater, which is why there are places where lots of geological evidence can be found about these periods in history.  These are manifested not just in fossils and various geological objects, but also in the unique landscape. For example, The Gauja River basin is an outstanding locations for Devonian cliffs and caves. Other interesting elements of the terrain relate to the development of the Baltic Sea in the past – the Baltic Ice Sea and the Littorine Sea. That is well presented at he landscape of hillocks and valleys in the Slītere National Park. Many forests  and bogs have remained virtually untouched as biotopes here.  The Ķemeri, Slītere national parks were all established to protect wetlands. Rivers in the Baltic States have not been straightened and dense areas of buildings are not common.  There are two “lands of lakes” in the Baltic States – Latgale and Augštaitija. The Baltic States are at the crossroads of the living areas of many different plants and animals, and that is why “northern,” “southern,” “western” and “eastern” species can all be found here. Some national parks have been established to protect distinctive local cultural heritage.

This facility is in the historical village of Pape in Southern Kurzeme.  Accommodations are available in an historical granary with a roof made of reeds.  It is appropriate for inhabitation during the late spring, the summer and the early fall.  There are three bedrooms, a small front room and a kitchen, with two floors in all.  The building will fit eight people.  This is an ideal location for creative camps, plenary sessions, master workshops and other activities.  There are tenting areas for as many as 80 people.  The Mikjāņi farm observes local traditions and offers traditional foods such as “herring on coals,” white butter with boiled potatoes, fish soup, etc., for visitors who apply for a meal in advance.  This offer is only available to groups which register in advance.

Die Brotküche befindet sich im Dorf Obinitsa, im Sommer ist sie jeden Tag und im Winter auf Anfrage geöffnet. Workshops zum Backen von Weiß- und Roggenbrot mit Sauerteig. In Café werden Steinofenbrot ohne Form, Brot mit Samen, verschiedene Weißbrote gebacken.

Eine der reichhaltigsten Baumschulen in Lettland, die zudem auch noch reich mit natürlicher Schönheit gesegnet ist. Hier werden über 1000 verschiedene Arten, Sorten und Formen angeboten. Führungen durch Laub- und Nadelbäume, Ziersträucher, Hecken, Kletterpflanzen, besonders gepfropfte Bäume und Sträucher, die man allesamt auch kaufen kann. Ein sehenswertes Dendrarium (Schaugarten), Beratungen.

In the workshop it is possible to learn about the process of creating and the usage of pottery of different historic periods, as well as other household goods. Archaeological pottery is presented. The Middle Ages man-carried clay bread oven, frying-pan, drinking cups, the pilgrims’ water bowls. All the works are handmade in the moulded ceramics style and burned in the clay kiln.
