"Lauku ceļotājs" invites you to the campaign "Open Days in the Countryside 2019"!
May 4-6, 2019 in Latvia and May 10-12 in Lithuania
"Open Days in the Countryside" is a rural tour and discovery event that has already become a tradition - starting the summer tourism and production season with wide open doors, inviting all interested parties, customers, neighbors, and the simply curious to farms to introduce them to the rich offer that can be seen, tasted, heard, and felt in the countryside.
The aim of the campaign is to popularize rural areas, products grown, produced, and prepared in rural areas, and services , as well as to interest residents in getting to know rural life, tasting rural delicacies, finding farms from which to purchase products grown and produced in rural areas, and enjoying the activities and sensations that can be experienced in the countryside.
A total of 194 farms (129 in Latvia and 65 in Lithuania) will be open to visitors in Latvia and Lithuania , each farm will welcome guests with its own special offer .
The campaign includes accommodation facilities, craftsmen, bathhouse owners, food producers, beekeepers, plant growers, large farms, castles and manors, amusement parks, country inns and restaurants, nature trails and many others. All campaign participants can be found in the "Campaign Participants" or "Map" sections (or download the map in PDF print format ).
Why go to the countryside during Open Days?
- Firstly , during the days of the campaign, the owners offer discounts, specially prepared events and programs. As part of the campaign, the farms organize educational tours, concerts, games and plays, tastings of delicacies, trading at more favorable prices, as well as more friendly prices for their products and services. In honor of the Latvian National Holiday, several "Open Days" farms will celebrate the "White Tablecloth Festival".
- Secondly , it is a unique opportunity to visit farmers who devote more time to production on a daily basis or can be found with their products at markets, but this time they will be at home and waiting for you - their guests.
- Thirdly , at no other time will so many different farms be open to guests at the same time – so this is a good opportunity to go on a trip with many interesting visits.
Tip for travelers! We encourage you to coordinate your visit with the hosts in advance so that they can plan to welcome you. You will find the hosts' contact information in the "Promotion participants" or "Map" sections when opening the offer for the specific farm's promotion day.
Cash will be useful when visiting farms.
