After the death of the Kalnasikšņi oak tree, which was the mightiest tree in the Gauja National Park, the mighty Kvēpene oak tree has taken over that role. It has a circumference of 6.1 m, a height of 20 m, and a crown which measures 28 x 30 m. The beautiful tree is on the right bank of the Gauja River valley and is one of the most excellent trees in Latvia. Near it is the forested Kvēpene castle hill, as is the Svētavots stream, which is reputed to have medicinal waters. To the North of the castle hill is the Rūsiņš hillock, which offers a good view of the surrounding forests, the towers of the city of Cēsis, Ieriķi, and the Rakšupe estuary at the Gauja. There is a bench at the top of the hillock from which lovely sunsets can be seen. |

Am rechten Ufer des Flusses Rēzekne befand sich in 9 – 12 Jh. eine alte lettgalische Burg, an deren Stelle hat 1285 der Livländische Orden angefangen, eine zweistöckige Steinburg zu bauen. Nabenan befindet sich das Zentrum der kreativen Dienstleistungen in Ostlettland und das Tourismusinformationszentrum. Entlang der Promenade des Flusses Rēzekne kann man bis zur 500 m weit gelegenen vor kurzem gebauten Konzerthalle GORS (Geist) gehen, die sich durch die moderne Architektur auszeichnet. |

This is the most visually impressive drumlin field in the Baltic States, and it is close to the village of Tabivere. The drumlins were established by ice glaciers, and they point in the direction in which the ice moved long ago. In terms of their appearance, the drumlins resemble loaf-shaped hillocks. From their “backs,” there are lovely views of the local landscape and the lakes that are around the area. The visitor centre is in the village of Äksi.

Guests to the Dīķīši homestead in the Amata Parish will be greeted by several Samoyed dogs and intelligent little donkeys that will bring the guests to a place for glamping next to the pond. You can hike down two trails of different lengths of enjoy the opportunities that exist when Latvians share places where they find mushrooms and berries. A special adventure is creating artworks from natural materials that have been collected in the forest. The accommodations are appropriate for people who use a wheelchair. The lavatory has been adapted to the needs of such people, as well. People who are interested in cultural history can tour a collection of Latvian folk costumes, trying them on and organising their own photo session. People who enjoy extreme feelings will enjoy a ride on a quadricycle. If you love to go fishing, bring your own inventory. We organise fire rituals for birthdays and family celebrations, and we’ll also offer soup that has been cooked on a campfire, as well as a master class in cheesemaking. |

This collection contains bicycles from five different armies and five different eras in the history of Latvia. They include a World War I bicycle from the Russian Empire, a bicycle from the Latvian army, two World War II German bicycles, and a Monark-brand military bicycle from Sweden that was donated to the renewed Latvian army in the 1990s. The exhibition also features items that are related to the use of military bicycles – seals, awards, and information about the bicycle units of Latvia’s Home Guard.
This is the only bicycle museum in Latvia, and its exhibits are unique, as well.

In diese konnte man über eine Zugbrücke gelangen, in dem man die äußere und die innere Vorburg durchquerte. Bis in die Mitte des 16. Jh. diente die Burg als Residenz des Komturs von Dünaburg. 1577 wurde sie vom Heer Iwans des Schrecklichen zerstört.Nach diesem Ereignis verlor Dünaburg seine strategische Bedeutung und der Bau eines Festungsbaus wurde dort begonnen, wo sich heute Daugavpils befindet. Neben der Ruine der Ordensburg befindet sich ein verkleinertes Modell der Burg, damit man sich vorstellen kann, wie es hier vor vielen Jahrhunderten ausgesehen hat. Vom Parkplatz bis zum Burghügel gelangt man über einen bequemen Pfad.Vom Burgberg hat man einen der schönsten Ausblicke auf den Naturpark der Daugavabiegungen. |

Nature restricted area has been established in old and overgrowing gravel pit and where rare species in Latvia - Natterjack toad (Bufo calamita) can be found. Natterjack toad needs open sand – gravel area therefore the population of it is decreasing once gravel pit is overgrowing by bushes. The population of this amphibian is depending on the activity of people in the area. There is very little chance to find Natterjack toad just by entering the restricted area, therefore please respect this area as especially sensitive.

There are three large lakes at the centre of this park – Lake Dusia, Lake Metelys, and Lake Obelija. Lake Dusia has very clear and transparent water, and its southern and south-eastern beaches are popular among swimmers. The lakes and their nearby wetlands are important during the migration season of birds.

Dieses Territorium wurde zum Schutz der Hainbuche eingerichtet, die ungefähr 4% des Gebietes bedeckt. Der optisch interessanteste Teil des Gebietes ist jedoch der Tīrspurvs – Sumpf, auch als Dunika - Heide bekannt. Hier findet der Besucher Lettlands längsten und beeindruckendsten Sumpfpfad, der das Gebiet von Norden nach Süden durchzieht. Der Besucher wird fasziniert sein von der einzigartigen Landschaft des zentralen Teils des Sumpfes, wo es an einigen Plätzen nicht einmal kleine Sumpfkiefernbäume gibt. Es gibt verschiedene Biotope – kleine Sumpfseen, mineralische Inseln, Wasserlachen usw. Ganz zu schweigen von all den Vögeln in diesem Gebiet.

Салаца с точки зрения водного туризма является интересной рекой, на которой даже в период маловодья будут радовать береговые ландшафты и объекты осмотра, а также многообразие самой реки. Для похода на лодках самыми привлекетельными будут окрестности Мазсалацы и участок Мерниеки – Вецсалаца, где на карте видны топонимы, связанные с заколами. Заколы (лат. tacis) – бывшие места ловли миноги – это та уникальность, характерная только для Салацы на участке реки ниже впадения реки Иге. В наши дни о прежнем существовании заколов свидетельствуют топонимы – Гедерту тацис, Жвигулю тацис и др. Заколы для миног строили в местах, где река самая мелкая, самая узкая, более богата островами и стремнинами, поэтому топоним «тацис» означает также самые интересные обстоятельства для сплава. Сами заколы сохранились только в нижнем течении реки у Салацгривы. Ночлег в основном на стоянках для водных туристов (в палатках). Die Hauptbetätigung des Hofs liegt im Anbau von Tulpen. Die Sammlung umfasst fast 400 Arten und Sorten von Tulpen. Im Frühling findet das Tulpenfest statt. Im Herbst kann man Tulpenzwiebeln kaufen. Hinzu kommen einige Tiere: ein Pony, Ziegen und Karnickel. Im Hof werden Kuchen, Brezeln, Kekse und andere Leckereien gebacken. |
