The route leads through the Gauja National Park which is located on both sides of the ancient Gauja river valley. Sandstone cliffs and caves, hilly landscapes and deep forests and castles are characteristic of the park. Further on at Igate Manor stop for a lunch at their mill tavern to taste traditional Latvian food. The route turns towards the coastwhich belongs to the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserveand continues through old Estonian fishing villages before arriving at the seaside resort of Parnu with its elegant villas. Next is a guided wilderness day in Soomaa National Park trying old-fashioned bog-shoeing and canoeing. Further on the route you will pass Pootsi with a 19th century manor and the ancient village of Varbla. Take a ferry to Muhu island and stay in the ethnographic fishermen's village of Koguva for a couple of days to explore the area. Cycle across the causeway to Saaremaa island from where you can take a ferry to laid-back Hiumaa island for a day trip to get a feeling for the true spirit of Estonia. Back on Saaremaa there is time for a free day in its capital, Kuressaare with plenty of spa and relaxation facilities. Then by bus head to Tallinn, charming with its medieval Old Town. From there enjoy a day trip to the former military base of Naissaar island where special cycling routes showcase its military history, mine and nature reserves.

The tower on the eastern shore of Lake Engure (next to the meadow for wild cattle, accessible from the side of Bērzciems) offers a view of the reeds, small islands, Great Island, cows and horses of the north-eastern part of the lake. One of the loveliest apple orchards in Latvia (~10 ha, 30 types of apples) is on the sides of impressive hillocks. During clear weather, you can see the Bay of Rīga from atop the hillocks. As you travel from Kandava to Sabile, you will find a parking lot on the right side of the road. From there, there are steps to a viewing area on the highest hill in the Abava Ancient River Valley – Greiļi Hill. This offers a wonderful view of the ancient river valley and the local mosaic of meadows and forests. The landscape is enriched by the Imula and Amula valleys that are on the other side of the ancient river valley.

The Raudondvaris Castle is on the right bank of the Neveža River in Raundondvaris.  The estate and a park that covers 3.8 ha has two buildings, an orangery, a stable for horses and a cellar.  Alongside the estate in 1834 was a park that was rebuilt in the 20th century with new plants and flowerbeds that featured ancient types of roses.  The northern part of the park is forested, with maple, pine and linden trees, as well as Edelweiss that blooms in the spring.  Paths in the park lead to a local environmentally protected area.

The farm breeds fallow deer and trout, grows vegetables and fruit. Visitors can see the deer and wild boar, taste berries and fruits directly from the garden, participate in creative workshops and cooking master classes called "Izgaršo dzīvi". The hostess combines the regional culinary heritage traditions of Kurzeme region and contemporary cuisine. Since 1820 people have been brewing Estonian beer here using local ingredients, like groundwater, yeast and others. The Saku Brewhouse name comes from the previous brewery that worked until 1992. The brewhouse also has a museum where you can see beer production from centuries ago until this very day. During the tour it is possible to taste freshly made beer. Minors are not allowed to participate in the tour.

This is a stretched-out territory from Valmiera to the Ape Administrative District, and its primary “axis” is the unregulated Gauja River valley with a dense web of old rivers, park-like meadows of oak trees on their banks, and stands of oaks and other broadleaf trees. Many rare and protected birds, including corn-crakes, woodpeckers, wood grouses and others live and breed here.
