In 1888, the building, provided for a doctor’s needs, was donated by Baron Alexander Alexei von Pistohlkors to the parish of Pēterupe Lutheran Church. Along with the building, Baron Pistohlkors also donated 6 hectares of land and 10 000 roubles for the doctor’s use. Arvēds von Engelhards became the first medical doctor in Pēterupe. In 1890, the first pharmacy was opened in one room of the clinic, serving people from a wide area; it remained in the building until 1895. This outpatient clinic was the very first stone building in Saulkrasti, the first health authority in a wide area, as well as the first pharmacy. Through its entire lifetime, the house was maintained from voluntary donations – at first by Alexander Alexei von Pistohlkors, then by churchgoers of Pēterupe Parish – therefore by the money of the villagers.
This house also played a role as the place of establishment of the Saulkrasti development society, which was actively supported by many celebrities such as the opera singer Herberts Ozolītis, actresses Tija Banga, Mirdza Šmithene, Lilija Štengele and Malda Gruzevska, composer Alfrēds Kalniņs and many other cultural professionals, artists and writers of that time, who used to spend summers in Saulkrasti. In 1933, the parish converted the outpatient clinic for the needs of a school.
Saulkrasti Primary School was transferred to the building of the former outpatient clinic.

Errichtet an der Stelle, an der im Ersten Weltkrieg 1916 die sogenannte Weihnachtsschlacht der russischen gegen die deutschen Truppen stattfand. Nach dieser Schlacht wurde der Mut und die Heldenhaftigkeit  der lettischen Schützen weit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt . Auf dem Ložmetējkalns (Maschinengewehrberg) ist eine Gedenkstätte für die lettischen Schützen errichtet und ein Aussischtsturm erneuert worden. Von dort aus sieht man das Maztīreļa purvs (Kleinheide Moor), die Stelle, an der ehemals eine deutsche Schmalspurbahn in Nord-Süd Richtung kreuzte, ist noch gut zu erkennen. Hier kann man sich auf eine Wanderung mit oder ohne Führer begeben, das Mangalis-Haus des Weihnachtsschlachtmuseums besuchen, in dessen Nachbarschaft eine Erkundungsroute errichtet ist, oder an thematischen Bildungsveranstaltungen und Schlachtimitationen teilnehmen. Zu besichtigen sind Denkmäler, Soldatengräber, Ausgrabungen, Fortifikationen, Erdhütten und mehr. Es gibt auch einen an autentischer Stelle rekonstruierten Abschnitt eines Befestigungssystems – einen Schutzbau und einen Teil der ersten deutschen Schutzlinie, den sogenannten „deutschen Wall“.

Auf dieser Fahrradroute begegnen Sie mittelalterliche Burgen, geschichtsträchtige Herrenhäuser und Schlösser. Einige dieser Herrenhäuser und Schlösser sind heute Hotels. Das Gutshaus Ungurmuiža ist ein hervorragendes Beispiel für die barocke Holzbauweise  im 18.Jh. In mittelalterlichen Cēsis befindet sich die Ordensburg, einst Sitz der Hochmeister des Livländischen Schwertritterordens. Weiter geht es durch den Gauja Nationalpark mit seinen einzigartigen Sandsteinklippen. Übernachtet wird in Schlössern und Gutshöfen auf dem Lande und in 4-Sterne Hotel in den Städten.

The restoration of Kau Manor, which was originally constructed before 1241, was inspired by the colourful history of the manor, and the imagination makes it stand out from the other manors. Kau Manor has won the 2016 World Boutique Hotel Award in the category of the World’s Most Inspired Design Hotel.

The Ukri forest on the border of the Dobele district is what is known as a vast forest. It has oak trees (including many huge ones), linden trees, oak trees (large stands of oak are uncommon in Latvia), and other deciduous trees. A small area of the forest can be toured in the company of a guide to look at the animals of the area and their importance in the flow of nature. The restricted area protects forest habitats, plants and animals, including many that are typical of the southern areas of Latvia.

The MIKO bakery bakes more than 100 types of products according to its special recipes, including cakes, pies, eclairs, and biscuits.

This is a shallow lagoon-type lake which, along with the area around it, is a wetland of international importance. The presence of 271 species of birds has been found in the area, including 43 birds which are listed in the Latvian Red Book and 15 that are listed in the European Red Book. The nature park includes the Nida swamp and the part of the sea which is alongside the park - newly estabilshed sea protected area "Nida - Pērkone". Between Lake Pape and the Baltic Sea we find Latvia’s oldest bird ringing station, where rings are attached not only to birds, but also to bats. Lake Pape is the first territory in Latvia where livestock adapted to life in the wild have been released for the proper management of the lake’s flood-land meadows. First there were wild horses (“Konik” horses), then aurochs and the European bison. Visitors can use bird and nature observation towers, nature trails, etc. The Ķoņi village is a unique example of a seaside fishing village. Pape is popular among bird-watchers, and the park’s visitors centre is found in the “Nature House” of the Worldwide Fund for Nature.
