Tūrisma gide Ineta Jansone piedāvā ekskursijas grupām gar Kaņiera ezeru, iepazīstinot ar putniem, kuri mīt tā tuvumā. Kaņiera ezers ir vieta, kur migrācijas laikā apmetas daudzi tūkstoši ūdensputnu. Netālu no putnu vērošanas torņa izveidota koka laipa uz pontoniem, kura stiepjas cauri niedrāju audzei. Kaņiera ezers izceļas ar lielu daudzums zivju – tajā konstatētas gandrīz 20 zivju sugu. Izsens zvejnieku ciems - Lapmežciems atrodas skaistā vietā uz šauras zemes strēles starp Kaņiera ezeru un Rīgas jūras līci. Lapmežciemā izveidots zvejnieku muzejs, kuru var apmeklēt ekskursijas laikā, kā arī nobaudīt svaigi kūpinātas zivis. |

Durbe is the smallest town in Latvia with a distinguished history, as well as the smallest city in the country in terms of population (some 500 residents). Durbe was first mentioned in a Courlandian document. In 1260, there was a legendary battle at Durbe between the joint forces of the Livonian Order and the German Order and local tribes, including Courlandians who left the German forces to join the tribes. One of Latvia's first professional gardeners, Sīmanis Klevers (1834-1922) lived and worked in Durbe, and it is thanks to him that the local gardens feature many rare types of apple trees. The herald of Durbe, which was approved in 1925 features a silver apple tree. Several local farms have fruit orchards, and there are many active gardeners. An apple festival is held each September in Durbe. |

This is a stretched-out territory from Valmiera to the Ape Administrative District, and its primary “axis” is the unregulated Gauja River valley with a dense web of old rivers, park-like meadows of oak trees on their banks, and stands of oaks and other broadleaf trees. Many rare and protected birds, including corn-crakes, woodpeckers, wood grouses and others live and breed here. This is also one of the most important places in Latvia in terms of where the deciduous tree hermit beetle lives.

This is a fairly unique territory in Latvia – a vast forest of oak trees (many of them very large, indeed), linden trees, elms and various other deciduous trees. In the company of a forest guide, the visitor can walk through a small part of the forest, learning about the inhabitants of the area and their importance. This is an environmentally protected zone.

Plavinas and Stukmani region was inhabited already in the third century. During the Polish-Swedish War (1600-1629) at estuary of Aivekste in the Daugava River the Swedish war camp was formed, from which are preserved fortifications - bastions. They are one of the most impressive military formations of this kind in Latvia. Plavinas as a larger populated area started to develop in the nineties of the 19th century and in the beginning of 20th century after the construction of railway. Today Plavinas are more commonly known with dolomite production sites and spring flood area. |

This park is in a region of hillocks in the Karula highlands, and Lake Ähijärve is at its centre. The park offers a cultural environment of small farms, and it was set up to protect the unique cupola-shaped hillocks of the area.
