Das ist ein flacher, lagunenartiger See, der mit dem ihn umgebenden Feuchtgebiet von internationaler Bedeutung ist. 271 Vogelarten wurden in diesem Gebiet gezählt, einschließlich 43 Vogelarten, die in der Lettischen Roten Liste aufgeführt sind und 15 aus der Europäischen Roten Liste. Zum Park gehören das Nida-Moor und der Teil des Meeres, das sich längsseits des Parks befindet. Geschlungener Pfad durch eine Landschaft von Dünenformationen mit Mooren, Formationen, die alte geologische Stadien der Ostsee anzeigen, das Hochmoor von Pēterezers und Überreste der alten Schmalspurbahn. Durch das Moor führen uns durch die Feuchtgebiete Holzstege. Die langgestreckten, parallel verlaufenden Dünen (kangari) und die sumpfigen Streifen dazwischen (vigas), die vom Pfad zu sehen sind, waren eng mit dem täglichen Leben der Liven verbunden, und jede von ihnen verfügt über einen eigenen livischen Ortsnamen. Der 3,5 km lange Pfad führt in die in Europa einzigartige Landschaft von kangari und vigas, die sich vor ca. 6000 Jahren gebildet hat, während das Meer zurücktrat.

Unikālā virsāju un aprimušo kāpu ainava un daudzu sugu dzīves vieta bija daži no iemesliem, kādēļ šai militārai teritorijai ir piešķirts arī aizsargājamas dabas teritorijas statuss. At this museum, you will learn all about the baking of bread from grain to loaf, and you can make your own loaves, too. You can taste bread and herbal teas. There are theatrical performances related to christenings, weddings, birthdays, etc. Local foods such as dumplings and soups made of dried mushrooms or lake fish are served. The museum sells freshly baked bread, as well as the work of local craftspeople. The hostess is a master baker and a member of the Chamber of Crafts.

The Lejenieki homestead is 1.1 km north of Bangas.  Vilis Plūdons (1874-1940) was an outstanding Latvian poet, a representative of the style of National Romanticism, and a schoolteacher.  His real name was Vilis Lejnieks, and he was born in at the Lejenieki homestead in the Bauska region.  His father was Jānis Lejnieks.  As a boy, Vilis was enchanted by fairy tales told by his granny and by folk songs that she sang.  Plūdons is buried nearby in the family cemetery.  Lejenieki offers an exhibition about the poet’s life and work.  The local sauna features sculptures of rabbits, thus recalling Plūdons’ poem, “Rabbit Sauna.”

Ja paveicas, pavasaros te var dzirdēt vai redzēt tādas retas un aizsargājamas putnu sugas kā ķikutu Gallinago media, ormanīti Porzana porzana, melnkakla dūkuri Podiceps nigricollis, griezi Crex crex u.c. Ciema ainava īpaši pievilcīga ir pieneņu un ābeļu ziedēšanas laikā. No putnu vērošanas torņa var redzēt vietas, kur akmens laikmetā dzīvojuši cilvēki. Blakus esošajā purvainajā pļavā bijis ezera līcis, kur tika būvēti ciemati līdzīgi kā Āraišu ezerpils gadījumā.
