Salos, Vaišnoriškė, Strazdai, Šuminai sind die bewohnten Dörfe im Augštaitija- Nationalpark, in denen historische Einzelgehöfte mit Holzgebäuden erhalten sind.

This is Lithuania’s largest mossy swamp, and the Čepkeliu Nature Reserve was established to protect it.  Before visiting the swamp, you must register at the Dzūkijos National Park’s visitor centre (Marcinkonys, Šilagėlių gatve 11).

Seinen Namen erhielt das quadratische Bauwerk mit den 2 Meter dicken Mauern in der Zeit Herzog Jakobs, denn hier wurde Schießpulver gelagert. Möglicherweise befand sich dort das Brunnenhäuschen, denn das Grundwasser reicht an dieser Stelle sehr nahe an die Oberfläche. Den Pulverturm verband eine 12 m lange Brücke auf einem einzigen Pfeiler mit dem Vogtgang des Schlosses.Heute ist der Turm nur von außen zu besichtigen. 

 Ja no Pervalkas (Pervalka) pa Kuršu jomas krastu ar kājām (neliela taka) dosimies Klaipēdas (ziemeļu) virzienā, pēc 10 – 15 min gājiena nonāksim līdz Arkļu ragam (Arklių ragas, citās kartēs – Žirgų ragas), kam iepretim ~ 0,2 km attālumā no krasta uz mākslīgi veidotas akmeņainas salas slejas 14 m augstā bāka. Tā celta ~ 1900. g. vietā, kur savienojas trīs kuģu ceļi no Klaipēdas, Nidas un Ventes raga (Ventės ragas). No šejienes paveras fantastisks skats un Nagļu dabas rezervāta iespaidīgajām kāpām.

Baltic States are lucky to have plenty of untouched natural territories. During the Cambrian, Silurian and Devonian eras, the territory of the current Baltic States was often covered by seawater, which is why there are places where lots of geological evidence can be found about these periods in history.  These are manifested not just in fossils and various geological objects, but also in the unique landscape. For example, The Gauja River basin is an outstanding locations for Devonian cliffs and caves. Other interesting elements of the terrain relate to the development of the Baltic Sea in the past – the Baltic Ice Sea and the Littorine Sea. That is well presented at he landscape of hillocks and valleys in the Slītere National Park. Many forests  and bogs have remained virtually untouched as biotopes here.  The Ķemeri, Slītere national parks were all established to protect wetlands. Rivers in the Baltic States have not been straightened and dense areas of buildings are not common.  There are two “lands of lakes” in the Baltic States – Latgale and Augštaitija. The Baltic States are at the crossroads of the living areas of many different plants and animals, and that is why “northern,” “southern,” “western” and “eastern” species can all be found here. Some national parks have been established to protect distinctive local cultural heritage.

Die Tour beginnt an der Burg Jaunmoku, wo sich auch das Waldmuseum befindet. Der Stolz der Burg ist der einzigartige, bemalte Kachelofen (Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts) aus 130 bemalten Fliesen mit 50 verschiedenen Ansichten der Städte Rīga und Jūrmala. Der Wald-Wanderweg läuft auf kleineren Wegen durch das Austrumkursa-Hochland, das Tal des Flusses Slocene, entlang des Sekļa-Sees und des Jumprava Sees, um schließlich die Stadt Tukums zu erreichen. Nach Tukums der Schönheit wegen! Die Stadt ist stolz auf ihre Blumentöpfe, Pflanzgefäße und Blumenbeete mit blühenden Rosen entlang ihrer Straßen. Anschließend schlängelt sich die Route durch Wälder zum anspruchsvollen Hügel von Milzkalns und dem Valguma-See, wo Sie den Barfußweg und einen abgeschiedenen Kunstraum im Wald finden. Weiter macht der Wald-Wanderweg einen Zwischenstopp im Nationalpark Ķemeri. Der Park ist dem Schutz von Feuchtgebieten gewidmet, da er eines der größten Sumpfgebiete Lettlands beherbergt – das große Ķemeri-Moor (Lielais Ķemeru tīrelis). Die Kleinstadt Ķemeri war einst eine Kurstadt, die balneologische Prozeduren und Mineralwasserbäde anbot. Die Tour endet im Dorf Bigauņciems, wo sich er Wald-Wanderweg mit dem baltischen Küstenwanderweg (Europäischer Fernwanderweg E9) verbindet. Alternativ kann man auch im Naturpfad zum See Sloka abbiegen, den Vogelbeobachtungsturm hochsteigen oder das „Waldhaus“ – das Besucherzentrum des Nationalparks Ķemeri – besuchen.

This facility is in the historical village of Pape in Southern Kurzeme.  Accommodations are available in an historical granary with a roof made of reeds.  It is appropriate for inhabitation during the late spring, the summer and the early fall.  There are three bedrooms, a small front room and a kitchen, with two floors in all.  The building will fit eight people.  This is an ideal location for creative camps, plenary sessions, master workshops and other activities.  There are tenting areas for as many as 80 people.  The Mikjāņi farm observes local traditions and offers traditional foods such as “herring on coals,” white butter with boiled potatoes, fish soup, etc., for visitors who apply for a meal in advance.  This offer is only available to groups which register in advance.

The spoon workshop offers useful objects such as wooden spoons, cutting boards, butter knives, pans, spatulas, etc. You can produce your own wooden spoon and look at finished spoons made of more than 17 different types of wood from Latvia. During the summer the owners offer “pancake tours” with tasty jams. You can purchase spoons and homemade wine.
