Das Naturreservat Krustkalni wurde 1977 geschaffen. Die Vielfalt der Pflanzen in der Region basiert sowohl auf dem Terrain – dem Madona - Damm, einer Reihe von Hügeln mit Geländesenken dazwischen, Sümpfen und kleinen Seen – als auch auf dem Biotop – natürlichen Wiesen, Waldlichtungen, Stellen, wo unterirdische Bäche an die Oberfläche sprudeln und riesigen Waldgebieten mit sehr alten Baumbeständen. Mehr als 800 Pflanzenarten wurden im Reservat bestimmt. Das Reservat darf nur in Begleitung eines Führers von der Reservatsverwaltung durchquert werden, wofür man sich vorher anmelden muß. Besucher können die Krāku - Quelle, den See Svēte-Dreimaņi und andere Stätten besuchen.

The only Art Nouveau building in Aluksne, built at the beginning of the 20th century, now works as a hotel. Historically, the building once housed a Railway hotel, so the original name of the hotel - "Bahnhofs Hotel" (transl. from German - "Railway" hotel) was kept.

The hotel has 9 rooms (some of which extra beds can be arranged). At an additional cost an English-style breakfast is available. Hotel guests are offered a half-hour free access to the swimming pool at hotel "Jolanta", which is nearby, as well as electric scooter and bicycle rental.

A banquet hall is also available for various events.

The ceramics workshop was opened in 1980, and red clay from Latvia is issued to produce various dishes and interior design objects. The workshop welcomes groups of tourists, as well as individual travellers. Vannūzis (Bath) – A building of the five-building complex “Kurhaus”. During the times of the Neibāde resort, this small building used to be a bath place. In order for the guests of the resort to be able to take a dip in the sea water even in bad weather, barrels of water were delivered by horses to the bath place.

The aerial tram across the Gauja is the only vehicle of its type in the Baltic States. It was installed in 1969 with the help of engineers from Georgia. The crossing is 1060 m long, and the cable which crosses the river is just one cable without any supports. The tram rides about 40 metres above the river, and it offers an outstanding look at the local landscapes. During the evening, the tram is used by Bungee jumpers.

Einer von den beeindrucksvollsten Objekten der UdSSR Armee in Ziemeļvidzeme mit verlassenen Häuser, unterirdischen Bunker, Raketenläger, Startplätze für Raketen u.a. Elemente. Einer von den einigen Plätze in Lettland, wo man das Denkmal für Ļeņins besichtigen kann. In der Zeit der Sowjetunion wurde der in Stein gemeißelter Konturen des Kopfs von Ļeņins auf dem Zentralplatz in Alūksne aufgestellt. In der Zeit des nationalen Erwachens wurde das Denkmal demontiert und nach Kernraketenstation transportiert. Es lohnt sich nur in Begleitung des Reiseführers das Territorium zu besuchen.

The craftsman produces pottery typical of Vidzeme, but with the range of colours that is typical of Latgale. These products fit in very nicely with the lovely landscape of Racupkalns. You can take a tour, watch the master at work, and work with clay yourself. You can also watch as he opens a Lettigalian ditch kiln. You can commission and purchase the products, as well.

These are beautiful and impressive views, particularly early in the morning, of the historical locations of Alūksne. Go to Templis Hill, the Aleksandrs Pavilion, the obelisk which commemorates Heinrich von Fittinghoff, and the memorial to soldiers of the No. 7 Sigulda Brigade for good views. The Templis Hill, the castle ruins, the estate and the pavilions are arhitectural monuments.
