Introduction

The EU tourism project enables vocational training institutes to adapt their training programmes to the need of SMW sector. It increases the competitivness and motivation for liflong learning. The project improves teh quality of products and services in the tourism sector through improvment of skills and competences of the enterpreneurs and employees.

The aim of Aurora II project
is to update, transfer and adapt the Accommodation and Cultural tourism Modules in all participating countries and translate them to their native language.

Project target group are the (future) employees and enterpreneurs who want to start their business or to improve the existing ones in the field of rural and culture based tourism.

Expected Project results:
  • Need analysis in the involved project countries;
  • The Module Accommodation in English, Finnish, Latvia, Dutch, Spanish and Swedish;
  • Module Cultural Tourism in English, Finnish, Latvian, Dutch, Spanish and Swedish.

Guideline "Culinary Heritage inRural Tourism"

Guideline "Culinary Heritage inRural Tourism" has been developed as part of the Module Cultural Tourism. The guideline  offers a selection of practical examples of how culinary heritage and gastronomy can be used in rural tourism to boost competitiveness of small rural tourism enterprises. There are the following sections in this guideline:
1.    Promotion of traditional cuisine in rural tourism.
The section gives examples of how rural tourism providers can benefit from participation in branding and labelling schemes, promotion and marketing activities by national and professional organisations.
2.    Food service enterprises and events using national cuisine.
The section shows examples how culinary heritage can be used in different types and standards of rural tourism and catering establishments.
3.    Traditional foods and their presentation.
The section looks at some examples of how traditional recipes can be adapted in modern cuisine.
4.    Rural tourism activity products related to food and culinary heritage.
The section shows examples of outdoor activities involving guests in food preparation.




Septemer 23th - 24th, 2010. Project partner meeting in Spain 

On September 23th and 24th project partner meeting took place in Madrid.  During the meeting the current status with Accommodation and Cultural Tourism module current events, up-coming activities and both module evaluation. Part of the meeting was devoted to discuss the project conference and preparation of the interim report.

February 28 - 29, 2010. Partner meeting in Spain

On February 28th and 29th in Barselona, Spain second partner meeting was held with discussions about the changes in the Accommodation module.

November 4, 2009.  Latvian project partner meeting

On November 4 project partners "Lauku ceļotājs" and "School of Business Administration Turība" organised meeting to coordinate, discuss changes and improvements in Accommodation module.

October 6 - 7, 2009. Project meeting in Netherlands

During 6th and 7th October first project partner meeting was held in Scharpenzeel, Netherlands. After short presentations of partner organisations, project work plan and project activities were discussed. On the 7th October the Acommodation, Culture tourism and Biosphere module was presented by PCT and PRAMES. Dissemination activities were discussed.
