So , first stop – Riga. Traffic quite crazy for me who is coming from silent small town with little more than 6000 people… Hotel Grizins was quite ok, they had nice backyard where to leave the car. Only minus was that the room was against quite busy street, so lot of noise even in night time. We had walk in old town, visited Lido and Go Planet ( from that I expected smth different according to their website) . One day we were at Jurmala, which was nice, despite no sun, but the weather was still quite warm and same about water, and big waves were great!
Then we travelled via Kolka to Ventspils. Kolka was nice and interesting to see waves crossing from different bays.
Ventspils – hotel Raibie Logi was also nice, with its own charm. We had luck to met Estonian origin lady as a guide at Ventspils castle, so we heard more than could find just by our own! City was interesting, green, streets from stones and lot of cow sculptures.
Then we travelled via Kuldiga to Jurkalne. Kuldiga was quite big surprise – the town itself, plus all sightseeings around. We were also in some caves near Kuldiga, got information about this from local tourist information. Pilsbergu Krogs – again little different place with its own style.
Hotel Liva at Liepaja – biggest from all we visited, most rich breakfast choice. Also we climbed to the top of their most famous church with biggest organ, visited Rock Cafe and Cafe Ilse – very nice place!
Then Lithuania – Neringa and Palanga – we liked Neringa more, really nice place to come back!
Then on the way back via Šiauliai and Hill of crosses, we made last stop at motel Brencis – very interesting motel with very big, unusual for us for such quite small place menu in their restaurant! I don't know , believe them or not if they really should have everything possible to order from their menu! The room itself was little small for 4 people, I suspect that 3 people it suits much better, but for one night it was acceptable. They would need some refreshment to their rooms in general as well, but place itself having quite good potential ! oh, forgot – we visited Rundale as well – that place will be worth visit again after few years, when there will be more done in their garden as well. Een today the view from palace windows was impressive!
On our last day we spent at Sigulda and Cesis.
In general we had very nice and relaxing days, the weather was ok and sea warm! You are lucky people – I think you have much more sand beaches than we have in Estonia. And these beaches are diffrenent, so everybody can find place suitable for them- there are crowded places and silent, little wild places. You have also more places on the roads where to stop and eat smth. The roads itselves could be better in Latvia, we got surprised sometimes even in highways by sudden holes appearing in front of our car… But the people were nice and these 12 days we had were really nice – I even forgot the password of my computer when came back …
There are still lot of places to visit in Latvia, so maybe we will come back in near future for longer or shorter period!
