Duration: 1-4 days Distrance from Rīga: The start and finish point for the routes is found at the "Stiebriņi" farm in the Virga Parish of Liepāja District, and it is around 185 km from the capital city. Best time to visit: April-October Getting there: Take the Rīga-Liepāja and then the Liepāja-Priekule bus. If you are driving, take the Liepāja highway (A9) to Grobiņa, then follow the Liepāja-Priekule road (P106) to the Paplaka turnoff. Take the turnoff and drive until you see the Paplaka railroad station. There you will see a sign that will direct you to "Stiebriņi". |
A brief description of the routeOn horseback, you will be able to travel along the South-western part of the Western Courlandian highlands. You will see lovely landscapes of hillocks, as well as the typical single-family farms of the Latvian people. More than one-half of the route will take you down small rural roads. One-fifth of the route passes through the forest. The remainder of the route crosses meadows and goes down rural pathways. Depending on your readiness, experience and desire, you can go on a one-day trip or on one that takes several days. Several routes are possible - Kalēti-Purmsāti, Purmsāti-Gramzda-Aizvīķi, Paplaka-Virga or Paplaka-Priekule.Points of interestThe M.
