Located in the North of Saldus, half a kilometre from the Riga-Liepāja highway (A9). Saldus Maiznieks ltd (Saldus baker), founded in 1992, is a family business in the second generation, which produces about 2 tons of rye bread every day. Bread is made with scour and natural leaven. There are various pastries and confectionery products, garlic croutons also produced. The quality of the work is monitored by three certified journeyman bakers who are members of the Latvian Chamber of Crafts. Company offers interactive excursions through the bakery, during which the visitors can enjoy the role of a baker – they are going through the bakery and doing the jobs that match their age – sift the flour, take the bread out of the oven, form the bread loaves, and can try different ingredients of bread. The tour is led by Kristīne Kriņģele, the craftswoman of the Latvian Chamber of Crafts. The company also produces white bread, pastries and garlic toasts. Products can be purchased on spot. |

You can go fishing on Lake Usma and then the lady of the house will cook tasty fish soup and smoked fish from what you catch. You can rent a boat, take part in fishing and casting of nets (in the winter, too), or take a cutter trip on the lake. You can also taste canned smoked bream and go horseback riding. |

Skaisto un mūsdienās atjaunoto zilā krāsojuma ēku Karaīmu ielas 5 malā sākotnēji (1810. g.) cēla Dominikāņu mūki. Kopš 1864. g. tajā 23 gadus saimniekoja policija, līdz 1887. g. te izvietoja pastu un telegrāfu. Šobrīd ēkā atrodas nacionālā parka administrācija. |

The tower is beyond the Oleri estate, in the small Oleri swamp, where at the end of a wooden footpath you can step upward a bit and learn about the landscape of a transitional swamp. This is part of the ZBR.

The farm has a herd of horses and buys horses which confirm to historical demands related to breeds of animals. You can learn to ride a horse in the company of an instructor and in a limited area. During the summer, there are cart rides, while in the winter there are sleigh rides. The horses are also used for weddings and other ceremonies. |

The mansion of the Gārsene Estate is built in the Neo-Gothic style, and its design was based on a villa in Germany. The building was erected between 1856 and 1860, and from then until 1920, the baronial dynasty of the Budbergs and Beningshausens owned it. The castle was expanded with another wing in 1885. Between 1939 and 1940, the building was rebuilt to become a school, and President Kārlis Ulmanis attended its opening on June 2, 1940, when he was taking his last official trip as the country’s president. There are other buildings and a park on the estate. The mansion today is home to the Gārsene Elementary School, but there is also an exhibition featuring the baronial dynasty, the history of the school, and the town itself. Just wait until you see the pot-bellied stoves! Outside the mansion are the Gārsene nature trails – the cultural and historical trail, the baronial strolling trail, etc. Before setting off, buy a ticket at the mansion. In front of the mansion is a memorial stone to Professor Pēteris Kulitāns (1878-1951), who was an agro-chemist. |

Viens no parka neparastākajiem vēstures objektiem, kas apvīts ar daudzām leģendām un noslēpumiem, par kuriem vēl joprojām nelabprāt izsakās ar to saistītie cilvēki. Zināms, ka bāzi laikā no 1960. – 1962. g. ļoti stingrā slepenībā cēla ~ 10 000 kareivji no citām padomju republikām. Pazemes ejas bija būvētas tā, lai pa tām varētu pārvietoties tikai maza auguma cilvēki. Zem zemes atradās 4 šahtas, no kurām varēja palaist vidējā rādiusa ballistiskās raķetes R – 12 U ar kodolgalviņām. Blakus atradās apkalpojošā personāla telpas, elektrības ģenerators, sakaru centrs u.c. Līdz 2010. g. bāzi varēja apskatīt vietējā gida pavadībā. Tagad to rekonstruē un 2012. g. plāno atklāt Aukstā kara muzeju. Bāze atrodas austrumos no Plateļu ezera, liela meža masīva vidū. |

The owner of the Vālodzes farm is a beekeeper. The farm is on the banks of a lovely river in a place where a homestead existed long ago. The hive are on a hillock and in a lovely meadow in the forest. Alongside the bees is a lovely apple orchard, and the owner is happy to have help in harvesting the apples in the fall. He has slowly restored the farm since 1996, and it has a lovely and large lake, a lake hut, a granary with a renovated upper floor and balcony, the beekeeping operation and the apple orchard. |

The brothers Imants and Ivars Novožilovs have spent more than 10 years collecting local evidence of World War II – weapons, wrecks of armoured vehicles, the everyday objects of soldiers, etc., and they have now opened an exhibition of those items at the former headquarters of the local parish council.

This homestead on the banks of the Rauna River breeds various kinds of fish. The excessively damp forests at this place include the Vēršupīte River bog, and this is one of the most diverse biotopes in Latvia in terms of the number of species that can be found here. The fact that the area is regularly flooded is shown by the fat roots of black alders – indeed, the place looks like a stand of mangroves. The wooden pathway that is the Dumbrāju trail starts at the Forest House for those who wish to examine the bog. The most impressive views are seen during spring floods or rainy seasons at other times of the year. The little river breaks out of its bed and floods a large territory. The Lake Sloka hiking trail is another place where you can study the Vēršupīte bog. The circular trail is 3 km long, and its beginning is at the Lake Sloka bird watching tower. |
