This is one of two sanatoriums in Jūrmala where mud from the surrounding area is used for medical procedures.  The Jūrmala Spa Museum of History was opened here in 2009, and it offers interesting information about the history of the spa and the sanatorium.  You will see historical photographs and medical equipment from the 1970s and 1980s.  Guides will tell you all kinds of interesting information.

Gaujas tilts Siguldā ir vienīgais tilts Latvijā ar šādu unikālu tehnisko risinājumu. Pirmo reizi tilts uzcelts 1937. gadā, taču kara laikā tas tika sagrauts. 1950. gadā to atjaunoja. 2017. gada vasaras beigās noslēgsies tā rekonstrukcijas darbi.

Небольшая хлебопекарня, оборудованная Янисом Курпниексом (Jānis Kurpnieks) – пекарем с более чем 20-летним стажем – в своем отчем доме. Более 12 видов хлеба из латвийского зерна. Самая большая гордость пекарни – цельнозерновой ржаной хлеб и кисло-сладкий хлеб, не содержащий пшеничной муки. Ржаной хлеб выпекается большими караваями весом 8–9 кг, в длину достигающими полуметра. У такого каравая сильнее вкусовой букет и дольше срок хранения. При выпечке хлеба используется только натуральное сырье и самостоятельно изготовленная закваска, которую получают из теста предыдущей выпечки. Тесто бродит в дубовых квашнях, а хлеб пекут в настоящей дровяной печи, которую топят дровами хвойных пород деревьев.

В1699 в центре Нюкши Пасиенские доминиканские монахи построили часовню, на месте которой в 1765 году помещик Хилзен возвел новую церковь. Помещения были маленькие, и в 1922 - 1926 гг. на фундаменте старой церкви строится новая и большая – теперешняя церковь, которую называют одним из самых красивейших деревянных храмов Латгалии. В здании находится центральный алтарь работы второй четверти XVIII века и два боковых алтаря работы примерно 1700 г. Церковь можно осмотреть изнутри.

From the tower of St Simon’s Lutheran Church, you can see the central part of Valmiera and the banks of the Gauja River. During clear weather, you can see Zilaiskalns Hill. The church contains some cultural and historical treasures, as well as one of Latvia’s most resonant pipe organs.

Усадьба Раудондварис (или замок Раудондварис) находится в Раудондварисе, на правом берегу реки Невежис. Дворец вместе с двумя домиками для прислуги (официнами), оранжереей, конюшней и ледником, разбросанными по территории парка площадью 3,8 га, составляет единый усадебный ансамбль. Тут же в 1834 г. был заложен замковый парк, который был реконструирован в ХХ в. The Rožlejas farm is in the Džūkste Parish of the Tukums Administrative District, where the Eastern Courlandian highlands interact with the Heath lowlands.  The parents of the current owner, Jānis Ukše, began work there in 1989, establishing a natural farm to grow sugar beets and then also wheat.  Thanks to thoughtful farming, Rožlejas has, over the past quarter-century, turned into one of the largest grain farms in Western Latvia.  The owners have taken active part in EU projects to purchase modern equipment and to build hangars for the storage of grain and equipment.  The farm specialises in winter barley and winter wheat, using ~1,200 ha of land for that purpose.

Madona is probably the only town in Latvia, in whose area a lake settlement was located around the 9th century. Its residues are preserved in the northern part of Salas Lake (Baznicezers) under water. Until the end of 19th century, a small estate with the same name (Madona) was located in place, where present town is located, Latvians called the place Bizi. In 1898 construction of narrow gauge railway between Stukmani (Plavinas) and Valka was started. The development of railway helped the development of the town. Today Madona is well maintained Vidzeme town with its own charm typical for small town. Interestingly that it can also be considered as one of the most highly placed towns in relief of Latvia.

The monument is on the banks of the Daugava River opposite Kaļķu Street in Pļaviņas.  The symbolic raft is made of  logs and stones, and around it are informational stands with photographs that tell the story of the heavy work that rafters on the Daugava once did in terms of overcoming the rapids of the river.

These sandstone cliffs were once known as the Pieškalni or Pieškaļi cliffs. They are around 7 km to the North from the centre of Cēsis. These are the most monolithic sandstone cliffs in the Baltic States – around 700 m long (with some 330 m along the Gauja River) and a maximum height of 22 m. There is a viewing area which offers a grand view of the Gauja River valley. Water tourists will boat up to the majestic wall of the cliff and will be surprised at what they see! The name of the cliffs, Ērģeles, is the word for "pipe organ" in Latvian, and the name was supposedly given to the cliffs because of the echoes which can be heard there – they reputedly sound like an organ. Hikers and boaters must be very careful when in this area – please make sure that you are safe! Please note, too, that the infrastructure of the cliff is scheduled to be renovated in 2012.
