Road cover:  Mostly earthen or gravel roads, forest trails, paved roads in populated areas
Start:  Krāslava or the beginning of Augusta Street at the border of the city
End:  Juzefova on the edge of the Krāslava-Daugavpils road
Markings:  A marked route (wooden poles with a stencil of a bike rider) in the Krāslava Administrative District
Route:  Krāslava-Tartaks-Zapoļņiki-Slutiški-Vasargeliški-Juzefova
Distance from Rīga:  Start – 270 km, end- 235 km
Logistics:  Buses travel between Juzefova (Naujene) and Krāslava several times a day.  You can take the bus to return to Krāslava or travel on to Daugavpils.
Alternatives:  It is worth hiking three nature trails along the route at Adamova, Markova and Dinaburga.  You can hike to the Kurmīši farm (+ 3 km) and the Lielie Muļķi village (+7 km).  You can bike down the route.
Note:  Steep cliffs and wooden pathways in parks can be slippery.  Tenting is possible at facilities for water tourists.  There are no shops or dining facilities along the route, but they can be found in Krāslava.
Points of interest:  The Krāslava Catholic Church, Duke Plāteri castle and park, workshop of ceramicist Pauliņš and the Adamova nature trail, a group of rafting and fishing villages at Augustiniški, a view of Veckaplava on the opposite shore of the Daugava and the Markova information trail, the Slutiški village of Old Believers, the Slutiški cliff and the Vasargeliški viewing tower, the Naujene (Dinaburga) castle hill, the Juzefova Catholic Church.
