This is one of the highest points among the hillocks of the Selonian area of Zemgale – Borīškalns Hill. From the tower, you will see Lake Sauka, as well as the forests and farmland which surround it. The “Kalna Ļūdāni” farm is nearby, and its owner uses his livestock to help to maintain the surrounding landscape.

The Priekule Lutheran Church was built around 1680 and rebuilt a century later, in 1892. In 2005, the church tower was improved, and visitors to the church can now use it as a viewing platform. They can see the place where Icarus of Priekule supposedly made his first “flight.”

The viewing tower is on the western part of the Blue Hills of Ogre, not far from the Dubkalni quarry.  Paths lead to the tower, as does a wooden staircase.  The viewing platform offers a very broad view of the Ķegums hydroelectric power plant reservoir and the towers of Rīga.  The platform is part of the nature park of the Blue Hills of Ogre.

This is on the north-western shore of Lake Lielezers of Limbaži, at the start of the Lielezers nature trail. The tower opens up a view of the lake and its lovely shores. It is worth walking the trail, which is several kilometres long, because it is an interesting one. This is part of the ZBR.

After a big storm in 2005, the nature trail of the Randu meadows was restored. It is about 4 km long, and there is a bird-watching tower which offers a fine view of unique shoreline meadows with small lagoons and areas of reeds. It is a fine place to watch migrating birds. This is part of the Northern Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve (ZBR).

The ruins of the Rauna castle (which was built in 1262 and was a main residence of the Livonian archbishop) have a modern viewing tower which offers a view of the impressive castle walls, the place where the former Medieval city was located, and the centre of Rauna. Ložmetējkalns Hill is one of the highest locations at the Long Dune. There is a monument to heroic Latvian riflemen who suffered great losses here during the Christmas battles of late 1916. There is a great view of forests all the way to Jūrmala, as well as of the Maztīrelis swamp, where the embankment of the former narrow-gauge railroad is very evident. This is part of a memorial park to commemorate the Christmas battles. You can visit the Mangaļi museum, the restored “German Rampart,” monuments and other objects.

Viewing tower on pontoons, and there is a footpath to get to it. The tower offers a view of nearly all of Lake Sloka, all the way to Kauguri. Particularly visible is the northern part of the lake. There is also a sulphur spring. The site is good for bird-watching throughout the year, including the winter, because parts of the lake do not freeze over.

Based on the tower of a former Soviet army radar installation, there is an 18-metre viewing tower at the Southern breakwater of Ventspils (Medņu Street) today. The tower offers a good view of the port territory, with the sea gate at the mouth of the Venta River and the city beach. Binoculars are available at the tower. It is worth walking down the Southern breakwater to get a better look at the sea.
