Marcus Andersson is the Head of Public Affairs at the Baltic Development Forum (BDF), where he is working on “BaltMet Promo”, a project aiming to galvanize regional stakeholders into marketing the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) on a global scale. BDF is an independent non-profit networking organisation with members from governments, major cities, companies and research and media institutions in the BSR. As the leading high-level and agenda-setting networking organisation in Northern Europe, BDF seek to develop new initiatives and partnerships to stimulate growth, innovation and competitiveness in the BSR and its 11 countries.

Marcus also functions as Director of Research and Business Development at Tendensor AB, regarded as the leading place-branding consultancy in Sweden. Tendensor’s focus on helping cities, regions, countries and tourism destinations differentiate and improve image and attractiveness. He has conducted research on nation branding and been published in various international journals. He is a member of the expert group of the Association of Place Branding and Public Diplomacy and associate expert of BestPlace – the European Place Marketing Institute and holds an MSc in Business and Economics and an MA in Political Science. His areas of expertise include brand building for macro- and cross-border regions, cluster branding, nation branding, public-private partnerships in place branding, innovation policy and public and EU affairs.
