Lucy Galvin graduated in English and American Studies and trained as a journalist. She worked on local and national newspapers as a reporter and sub-editor and on international magazines as assistant editor. She is the published author of two books for children and has worked as a journalist in Hong Kong and Zimbabwe and as lecturer in journalism at City College, Norwich.
She continues to work part-time as communications officer for a protected area in the UK, the Norfolk Coast Partnership, where, among other things, she has helped produce two management plans and is currently developing an interpretive framework for the area and is currently leading a national branding and identity project for AONBs in the UK.
Lucy developed her knowledge of protected areas as media and publications officer at the Broads Authority (1995 – 2001) in the UK. She has undertaken consultancy work in communications, editing and project management for British Waterways, Inland Waterways Amenity Advisory Council and the World Health Organisation.
As consultant she developed a communications strategy for the Broads Authority. She has also led an international group of PA communicators to develop a set of key messages for Natura 2000 sites, and facilitated gatherings of PA managers to set objectives and actions.
Lucy is a trained facilitator, member of the Interacts facilitators’ network and has recently extended and updated her skills after being selected for and completing an Action Learning Facilitation course as part of the national Cultural Leadership Programme.EUROPARC Consulting GmbH
