Wolfgang Günther

N.I.T.

Wolfgang Guenther studied Biology and started his carrier as a project leader for an environmental NGO in marine protection and sustainable tourism. In
1999 he came to N.I.T. and now is Head of the Sustainable Tourism Unit and Associate Director.

The N.I.T. (Institute for Tourism Research in Northern Europe) in Kiel is involved in basic research on tourism (e.g. What is recreation?, Do climatic changes and their consequences have an impact on tourism?), supervises the annual travel research “Reiseanalyse” (www.fur.de) and works in applied research and consulting (e.g. for tourism companies, associations, tourism destinations, ministries and other national and supranational institutions).
