Lielbātas dabīgais dzidravots ir lielākais Latvijā un viens no retajiem Ziemeļeiropā, kas zemes virspusē no dzīlēm iznes bioloģiski aktīvu un pareizi strukturētu ūdeni. Lielbātas dzidravots tek no rietumiem uz austrumiem pretī saulei, tāpēc jau izsenis tiek uzskatīts par maģisku, pat svētu, kam piemīt dziednieciskas spējas. Vēstures materiālos Lielbātas avots pirmo reizi pieminēts 1253. gadā un līdz šim brīdim turpina savu plūdumu. Lielbātas avots atrodas sakoptā un ekoloģiski tīrā vidē. Laikam ritot, avota ūdens plūsma nav mazinājusies, bet tieši pretēji, tā ir pieņēmusies spēkā un ar apbrīnojamu jaudu avots turpina dot unikālu dabas velti – tīru, bioloģiski aktīvu, pareizi strukturētu ūdeni, neapstājoties ne dienu, ne nakti, ne ziemu, ne vasaru. Netālu no avota atrodas vēsturiskā Vaiņodes jeb Lielbātas pils, kuru 19. gs. vidū būvēja barons Osten Sakens. Vēstures liecības liecina, ka šī vieta pils būvniecībai nav izvēlēta nejauši. 1923. gadā pilī tika izveidota sanatorija, kas ne tikai bija priekšzīmīgākā Latvijā, bet varēja cienīgi līdzināties ārzemju sanatorijām. Tam par iemeslu bija dabiski tīrā un dziednieciskā vide, kas saglabājusies līdz pat mūsdienām. Lielbātas pils ir privātīpašums un apmeklētājiem nav pieejama, taču Lielbātas avots ir brīvi pieejams, un katram ir iespējams nogaršot avota ūdeni. This is a beautiful farm that is friendly to the environment and has some 300 hives of bees. There is a shop along with a tasting hall where you can enjoy honey made of various flowers, pollen (including pollen in honey), propolis (also in honey) bee bread, wax and souvenirs. Taste beekeeping products (including honey wine) and take a tour of the farm, as well. This farm uses traditional hives to extract honey, and it offers a look at hives that were used in the past. The first church in Piņķi was made of wood. The idea of building a new church emerged in the 1850s, and the cornerstone for a design by the architect J.D. Felsco was laid on May 25, 1872. The church that is there today was completed in 1874. The nine-register organ was built by the distinguished organ builder Wilhelm Sauer in 1890. On July 17, 1916, the 5th Latvian Riflemen’s Battalion was on its way to the front lines at Smārde and stopped at the Piņķi Estate. Col Jukums Vācietis delivered a sermon at the church on that date (though not all historians agree that he did so), and that has gone down in history as one of the most important events of the day. The historical even inspired Aleksandrs Čaks to write the poem “Sermon at the Piņķi Church.” The church is a cultural monument and can be toured. It is lit up at night. Alongside the stone is a rock that was installed in commemoration of the Latvian riflemen. |

The cosy land road along the sea is 1 km long, and it offers a look at the wonderful aspects of the village. To the right are rocks from the sea, as well as miniature flower gardens on the seashore with tempting benches and overturned boats. On the side of the shore is the Kaltene library, which is more than 100 years ago. It was initially a summer home for Baron Nolken, and it was built in 1899. Later it was rebuilt several times and took on new roles. An elementary school was installed here in 1926, after which it became a club and then, in 1992, a primary school once again. The path runs along beautiful seashore homesteads, among which one can find the former homes of old fishermen and ship builders such as Burliņi. This nature park features the most beautiful and distinct parts of the Vanema hillocks in Northern Kurzeme, and the aim is to protect the hillocks of Talsi. This is one of the loveliest parts of Kurzeme, with small but distinct hillocks and ravines among them. There are small but fairly deep lakes in the area – the Lake Ābeļi, Lake Čumals, Lake Sirdsezers, etc. Some of them are reminiscent of nothing other than deep craters. The territory is very good for active tourists – hikers (there are nature trails), bicyclists, etc. |
