The oldest elements of the Oleri Estate date back to the 17th century.  Initially there was a wooden mansion with an ancillary building.  The new centre was built in the late 18th century in the style of Early Classicism.  After agrarian reforms, the mansion housed an elementary school, and during the Soviet occupation and until the 1970s it was a school for children with mental disorders.  The mansion suffered in a fire in 2000, after which it was restored.  A local organisation was of great importance in this regard.  The mansion is known for its Classicist paintings, with a unique “Painting Gallery.”  The mansion is surrounded by a lovely park.  The Oleri Estate is known for hosting chamber music concerts.  The local Oleri swamp has a wooden pathway and a little viewing tower.

The Jēkabpils Museum of History offers an educational programme, “The Story of Cheese,” which provides information about the ancient history of cheese, interesting aspects of cheese making and the cheese-related traditions of the former owners of the Krustpils castle, the von Korf dynasty of noblemen.  Tours are available for groups of 10 or more people.

The Zasa park is an estate park that is on the shores of the little Zasa River near the Zasa millpond (toward the North of Zasa). The landscape park dates back to the 18^th century and is in the style of Romanticism. The park was installed when the mansion of the Zasa Estate was built. It was owned by Heinrich von Zass, after whom the Zasulauks neighbourhood of Rīga is named. When ownership of the estate changed in the 19^th century, the Zasa Estate was seen as one of the wealthiest and most beautiful estates in the region. It is worth hiking through the vast park with its many bridges, the Werewolf tree, the Devil’s rock and a sacred stream. The grave of Ida Apsāne, who was known as the “moon daughter” of the great Latvian poet and playwright Rainis can be found in the old Lašu Lutheran Cemetery, which is 200 m to the North of the Lašu Lutheran Church. The text on the grave reads “Ida Marie Apsahn, b. March 23, 1867, d. April 10, 1887.” Other members of her family are also buried here.

This museum focuses on life in the countryside and was opened in 1991.  It sits on 18 ha of land, with authentic farms from the  Augštaitija region. 

This is a traditional crafts centre that maintains ceramicist traditions, organises annual creative camps for children, offers exhibitions of ceramics and organises educational programmes about traditional festivals.

Madonas centrālais laukums, kas vēl 20. gs. sākumā bija tirgus laukums. Pēc apjomīgās restaurācijas tas ir kļuvis par ievērības cienīgu pilsētvides objektu. Laukuma ziemeļu pusē atrodas pilsētas un novada pašvaldība un Madonas novada TIC.

The mansion of Uue-Varbla Manor houses the local history museum which presents local life from the early 20th C and history of Varbla municipality. There is a handicraft workshop in the museum, while old tools and machinery are exhibited in the granary. The mansion in early Classicist style from 1797 is an attraction in itself. Traditional handicraft fairs are held in the grounds in July every summer.
