This farm maintains a herd of horses and purchases horses that satisfy historical requirements related to species of horses in Latvia.

Programme:

  • Farm excursion: meet the hosts, learn about the farm history and operations today, as well as how many and what breeds of horses are kept. Upon prior arrangement, guests can take a horseback ride or a cart ride. There are 5–6 horses available for a visitor group.
  • Master class “How to harness a horse”: meet the hosts, introduction about the farm, explanation of the equipment and demonstration of harnessing a horse. Programme duration ~1 hour. Extra option – upon prior arrangement guests can try their hand at harnessing a horse.
  • Wedding programme: a ride in a horse driven cart, a photo session, quiz games.

The herd of horses at Untumi is bred and updated.  The farm also purchases horses which are in line with the historical requirements of Latvian breeds of horses.  Visitors can learn horseback riding skills with the help of an instructor.  This occurs in a limited territory.  During the summer there are cart rides, and in the winter there are sleigh rides.  The horses are used for weddings and other ceremonies.
